Miss India Crowned Miss Universe For First Time In 21 Years

In over 21 years, the Miss Universe title has not gone to an Indian contestant, but that has changed. Harnaaz Sandhu, 21, managed to win the Miss Universe crown after edging out fellow contestants Nadia Ferreira or Paraguay and Lalela Mswane of South Africa.

Here is a tweet marking the special moment.

During her speech, the Miss Universe winner stated that the greatest problem youths face today is finding the strength to believe in themselves.

Sandhu wanted everyone to know that they are unique, which makes us attractive. Therefore, people should not compare themselves to other people.

Instead, the focus should be on talking about issues affecting our world. Her hope was that people understood this.

She implored people to come out and speak up for themselves in her statement. According to Sandhu, each of us has to be the leader and the voice of our lives. As far as she is concerned, she won the crown because she believed in this.

Sandhu also used the unique opportunity to address the issue of climate change.

She believes that the time for talking is over and that it's high time we took action. Every decision we take can either make the situation better or worse, and Sandhu thinks that preventing and protecting is a lot better than repenting.

Besides modeling, Sandhu is also a master's student in public administration.

She also enjoys a massive Instagram following of about 1 million people. Obviously, these fans must be incredibly happy that she has won the Miss Universe crown.

Let's have a look at some of her most popular social media posts.

Without a doubt, Sandhu deserved this win.
