Valeria Lukyanova became a worldwide sensation in 2012 thanks to her Barbie doll-like features. It took her many years to prove that she is all-natural. Well, for the most part.
Today, Valeria Lukyanova lives a high life with her husband, Dmitry Shkrabov. The 35-year-old model from Ukraine moved to Moscow, and she is now a writer, composer, and spiritual healer.
Of course, she is well aware that controversies about her Barbie-like features, and that includes extremely slim waste, are a reason she is thriving.
It Is All (mostly) In The Genes
Lukyanova loved makeup ever since she was a child. Her naturally blue/green/grey eyes, pouty lips, and that magnificently slim waste appear photoshopped.
But, her mother Irina and her sister Olga share doll-like features, so what you see truly is what you get.
However, Lukyanova did have one major plastic surgery. She enlarged her chest and made a statement about it:
"Don't believe any stories about me having rib-removing surgeries—they aren't true. The only surgery I had was breast surgery. My mother's waist is as narrow as mine—I inherited that from her."
Despite the pressure and significant backlash, the Human Barbie managed to convince most internet users that her looks are primarily natural.
After sharing a makeup-free photo on her Instagram, in 2016, many felt that it was time to accept that Lukyanova is the real deal.
There is one strange thing about Lukyanova, and that is her diet.
Growing Up Valeria Lukyanova
Born on August 23rd, 1985, the model had a complicated relationship with her image from an early age.
Valeria went from one extreme to another.
As a teenager, she rebelled by imitating goths with black hair and heavy, black makeup.
In school, she was being bullied and called a witch. But, despite her dark phase, she caught the eye of a modeling agent at 16.
She moved to Odessa, and in 2007, Lukyanova won the worldwide beauty contest "Miss Diamond Crown of the World."
ABC News hinted that Lukyanova was a fabrication, an artificial image, but that only made people more aware of the Human Barbie's existence.
Feminists still have plenty of issues with Lukyanova, but the model born in Tiraspol responded by making a documentary Space Barbie with Vice.
She talked about spirituality, and online trolls, stating that she is simply a girl who likes beautiful things. In the same documentary, Lukyanova said she never tried to be anyone else but herself, especially not Barbie.
However, Valeria taught her sister how to pose in the same documentary. She told Olga to look like she's in mourning. And that is how you get the perfect, lifeless, dollyesque photo.
Yet, it was not until two years later, in 2015, when she finally called her nickname a little "degrading and insulting."
Valeria Lukyanova's Insane Diet
Lukyanova revealed that she didn't feel hungry anymore in 2014. She is a strict vegan, but she also revealed her plans to start living as a Breatharian.
At the time, she stated:
"In recent weeks, I have not been hungry at all. I'm hoping it's the final stage before I can subsist on air and light alone."
"If you want to live a long life and stay beautiful, eat vegetables and herbs. Eat very small portions. The biggest secret is the amount of food I have. They are very small."
Naturally, these statements caused more backlash, but Valeria is not the first famous person to talk about the idea of living on air and sun.
A year before, Michelle Pfeiffer said that she gave up food in her 20s. Needless to say, Michelle Pfeiffer's obsession with becoming a Breatharian did not last long. Otherwise, she would not be here.
Apart from eating insanely small portions, the Human Barbie spends three hours in the gym every day.
While she backtracked that she's living on air, Valeria explained that she believes in portions control and eats plenty of green veggies.
Still, her diet is not something anyone would recommend. It is dangerous and irresponsible, to say the least.
Valeria Lukyanova, Aka The Human Barbie's Body Controversies
Though Valeria is not as present in the media as she was in the early 2010s, the interest in her face and body is still very high.
The experts worldwide are still trying to figure out how much of Valeria is real and how much was bought.
Lukyanova's proportions are 34-18-34. Barbie's are approximately 39-18-33, so it's pretty close.
Since Valeria is now 35, it is safe to assume that she has had more work done. But, she is still far from the human Ken doll, Justin Jedlica, who spent almost a million dollars to achieve his look.
Valeria's looks are fascinating, but thanks to contact lenses and way too much makeup, she gained an army of followers, trying their best to become a new human Barbie.
But, Valeria's looks are not the only thing that had people talking.
In 2014, she told GQ that the push for plastic surgery procedures in the Western world is "because of the race-mixing."
"Ethnicities are mixing now, so there's degeneration, and it didn't used to be like that."
"Remember how many beautiful women there were in the 1950s and 1960s, without any surgery? And now, thanks to degeneration, we have this."
In the same interview, she said she was against feminism, and the magazine's editor Micheal Idov called her "a racist space alien."
Valeria Lukyanova Today
The Ukrainian human Barbie is a mystery, but what we do know is that she managed to get several movie roles and release two albums. Her net worth in 2021 is around 2, 5 million dollars, and that is quite an amount.
Though Valeria received a vast amount of negativity, and there are hundreds of before and after photos from people claiming she is basically plastic, it doesn't mean that she is not living her best life.
Her husband, Dmitry Shkrabov (born in 1977), comes from a wealthy construction family, so it is not a stretch to say that this Barbie got all she wanted.
Dmitry and Valeria were childhood sweethearts, and they share a passion for spirituality, occultism, and outdoor activities.
In case you meet human Barbie, impress her by calling her Amature, which is her spiritual name. Though many strange things are surrounding the platinum blonde model, her body should not be anyone's business.
Her statements about race and eating air are, however, damaging and even scary.
