The aviation industry is, without a doubt, one of the most male-dominated sectors globally. However, in recent years, there has been a significant paradigm shift in the sector that has seen more and more women take up high-ranking positions as chief operators, managers, and even airline owners.

Enter Sherrexcia Rexy Rolle and you quickly get a sense of what it means when it's said that there's no stopping a strong black woman once she sets her mind on doing something. Rexy is the vice president, operations for Western Air.

Western Air is a private black-owned and operated airline based in The Bahamas, and is estimated to be worth a net value of well over $90 million. The airline started in 2001, by Rexy's parents, Rexy and Shandrice Rolle. Since its founding, the airline has grown to become among the largest privately owned airlines in the Bahamas.

Western Air operates out of the major airports in the Bahamas and serves the Caribbean region, offering direct flights to Jamaica, Cuba, and Haiti.

The airline is also keen on increasing its fleet in order to match the ever-growing demand. According to Rexy, the sky is truly the limit.

At only 29 years of age, Rexy is, without doubt, one of the youngest female executives calling the shots at the airline. But she didn't start out at the top. She became very involved in the family business from a young age when the company started out. Her first role was actually as a baggage handler.

This savvy woman went to school, got her master's and JD, and made sure she was equipped with the relevant skills and experience to handle the job that lied before her.

With Rexy at the helm, Western Air has been able to rise above some of the challenges that seemed to plague it at the start, which included time management. She has been doing an excellent job in ensuring there are no delays.

As an exec, she has had to face some challenges of her own. These cover the whole myriad from racial to gender discrimination. She has also had to deal with people who are too quick to write her off because of her age.

Through it all, she has always held her head up high and proven to her detractors, time and again, that she is not just another pretty face and that she deserves to be where she is today and has what it takes to get her to an even higher level.

To all the ladies and young girls out there, Rexy's word of encouragement is that you have to grab every opportunity that comes your way and run with it. You have to be aggressive when pursuing the opportunities that present themselves to you. Stand out from the crowd and make an impact.

It sure goes without saying that Rexy is making an impact and causing ripples in her sphere. For this strong woman, there's just no stopping her.
