A Missouri pet rescue has gone viral after sharing a puppy photo. The puppy has a 'unicorn' like tail growing out of its forehead.
Unicorns are a big obsession in modern culture, and these mythical creatures have been embellished everywhere, including on t-shirts, stationaries, and homeware, among other things. In reality, they can unfortunately only be found in fairy tales. They can symbolize magic, strength, or rainbows and they are also captivating to look at.
But, some discoveries make us question whether unicorn species really exist in the real world. And one recent case is a puppy with a 'unicorn' tail growing on its forehead.
According to reports, the dog was found in Kansas City and was rescued by Mac's Mission, a shelter that focuses on dogs with defects in Cape Girardeau.
As is evident from the pictures, he's no ordinary pooch. He has what appears to be a second tail growing out of his forehead.
Mac's Mission, who have since lovingly named him "Narwhal the Little Magical Furry Unicorn," is currently requesting donations for the pup.
The center wrote on Facebook:
"NEW RESCUE!!!"
"This puppy was just found along with another older dog. This puppy has a TAIL COMING OUT OF HIS FOREHEAD and a foot injury of some sort. We are thankful this baby, and his buddy are safe from the freezing cold. We definitely specialize in special."
A vet who examined the puppy said that there are no bones inside the tail, and it's just skin.
Mac Mission's owner, Rochelle Steffen, told Today:
"I looked at him, and I was like, 'This is the most ridiculously adorable puppy I've ever seen. Then my million-dollar question was, 'Did the tail wag?'"
The photos of the little pup went viral, and plenty of people have shared their own speculations as to how the pooch developed this unique feature.
One person wrote:
"It was going to be a twin. You know how cells develop from the ass first? So when the cells split, this dog continued developing from the butt all the way to the nose, the other cell was like 'f this s**t, I ain't ready' and stopped developing. So the ass part just stayed there while the other cell developed. so basically this dog has its sibling's butt on its forehead."
While another jokingly added:
"Nice try FBI. We all know this is one of the aliens that escaped the Area 51."
And if you're still wondering whether the tail wags, you might be in for a disappointment. The rescue center said in a separate post:
"The extra tail is not connected to anything and has no real use other than making him the COOLEST PUPPY EVER!"
The shelter also added that the pup isn't immediately available for adoption as they want to monitor him to ensure the tail doesn't bother him.
