A guy on TikTok called out McDonald's for raising their prices, saying it's too pricey to eat there now. Topher went to his local McDonald's not long ago and was surprised to see that his regular meal, which includes a Smoky Double Quarter Pounder BLT burger, large fries, and a Sprite, set him back more than $16.

Does anyone else feel like food is getting pricier lately? Takeout meals that used to be budget-friendly are now sadly a bit expensive.

In the last year, the cost of living in the United States has gone up a lot because of a big jump in inflation, causing prices for energy and food to shoot up.

Yet, there was one thing Americans always thought they could rely on - a cheap meal at McDonald's.

Interestingly, that might not be true, as hinted by TikTok user Christopher Olive.

In a video he shared last year, the up-and-coming strongman displayed his latest McDonald's haul, featuring a Smoky Double Quarter Pounder BLT burger, a big serving of fries, and a Sprite.

So, when thinking about what could be a reasonable cost for this meal, it's definitely more expensive than a Happy Meal.

However, just a few years back, you'd usually expect a meal like this to run you no more than $10, if not even less.

That's why Christopher was surprised when he looked at his receipt and saw that he had been charged a hefty $16.10 for his meal.

In the video, he shares: "So I get there's a labor shortage, I get there's wage increases and a number of other things but... sixteen dollars?

"Sixteen dollars for a burger, a large fries and a drink. It's just crazy."

With almost 180,000 views at this moment, the video has drawn thousands of comments from the online community, and it appears that people have different viewpoints.

Some folks find the $16 price for a burger meal pretty steep and share their annoyance.

On the other hand, it's crucial to keep in mind that every step in the supply chain has been hit by rising expenses, which is adding to these high prices.

In the comments section, one individual shared: "Five Guys prices at McDonald's?!?" Christopher then replied: "It's crazy."

Another stated: "It's officially not convenient or affordable anymore, might as well go to the store and buy hamburger meat."

"I make a lot more of my own food these days because of stuff like this," added a third, with the TikToker replying: "Exactly. I eat 90 percent from food I cook and this really shocked me."

But not everyone is on the same page, as some say he might have gone for the priciest item on the menu.

"Bro ordered the most expensive meal they have and acted surprised," wrote someone else, while another shared: "Because you got DOUBLE DELUXE BACON quarter pounder, literally the most expensive option on the entire menu."

And some even offered money-saving tips for McDonald's enthusiasts, like this individual who shared: "Download the app. You can literally eat McDonald's for under $6 every time."

A final commenter wrote: "Use the McDonald's app, sometimes they have a 50% off and other offers."
