People were shocked to see Mark Walberg's before and after pictures of his new body on the internet. He put on as much weight as possible for a new movie role in just three weeks! Keep scrolling to see pictures of his new "dad bod".
We all know Mark Wahlberg, right? He is one of America's best-known actors, also known as Marky Mark. In 2017, he was the highest-paid actor in the world.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, the road to fame was not a bed of roses. He started as a rapper. That is where the nickname Marky Mark came from. He was part of the hip hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
His Acting Career
In 1994, he made a transition into acting. He first acted in the movie Renaissance Man. He played his first starring role as David McCall in the movie Fear in 1996. But, he really rose to fame in 1997 with his role, Eddie Adams, in Boogie Nights.
He successfully interpreted his roles in the following action movies that were just as successful: The Perfect Storm (2000), Planet of the Apes (2001), and The Italian Job (2003).
Wahlberg is well-known for the funny roles he also played in Ted (2012) and Daddy's Home (2015).
Wahlberg's Other Ventures
The 49-year-old actor is also a businessman and a TV producer. He is a co-owner of Wahlburgers, owns an equity interest of the Barbados Tridents cricket team, co-founded Performance Inspired, a sports nutrition company, and is a stakeholder in Aquahydrate, a bottled water company. He holds shares in a couple of other franchises.
In 2010, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It is not beyond reach to say that he is extremely successful professionally. But, not all aspects of his life have been that way. He is no stranger to controversy.
A Past That Does Not Wholly Define Him
Coming from a family of 9, his teenage years were not smooth. He dropped out of high school and started with crime early on. At 13, he was already addicted to drugs. He dealt drugs, stole, and was violent. With these attributes, he eventually served time in jail at the age of 16.
After he was released, he decided to turn his life around. Over the years, he has spoken about his crimes. In 2014, he told Associated Press:
"I have apologized, many times. The first opportunity I had to apologize was right there in court when all the dust had settled and I was getting shackled and taken away, and making sure I paid my debt to society and continue to try and do things that make up for the mistakes. I've made."
It is noteworthy that his past with his crimes has not affected the success of his career. He has been making steady progress and is set to feature in the upcoming movie Father Stu.
To get into character, he has been putting on weight. He opened up on an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! About how he planned to prepare for his role in the movie. He said:
"After we do the boxing scenes, I get to put on as much weight as possible over the course of the film, so I'm challenging myself to put on 30 pounds in the next six weeks. They want me to do it as healthy as possible. I'm like 'Dude, I've been on such a regimen for so long. I just want to eat everything in sight.' I want to go to bakeries, I want to go to Denny's, I want to get pancakes. I want to get everything that I could possibly get my hands on."
He shared a picture on Instagram that showed from left to right, a 3-week difference.
