Just when you think you've seen it all, something horrible happens and goes viral. Ronnie McNutt, who was 33, filmed his own suicide on popular social network Facebook but ended up as a TikTok's star.

The horrifying video has taken on a new life as the app is scrambling to remove the widely-shared clip.

The video was already shared on Facebook, as well as on Snapchat. And people simply say that they cannot unsee it.

McNutt's friend Josh Steen said social media companies hadn't done enough to remove the footage.

He told Heavy.com: "Facebook could've stopped this and didn't. Facebook is responsible for the video being passed around."

One Twitter user stated: "If you see this guy on your For You page, scroll up immediately.

"It's gruesome, and I highly suggest you stay away from TikTok for a while."

The users are horrified

While social networks are fighting with deleting the video (good luck with that!), people are trembling.

The fact that many witnessed a suicide is beyond reason, especially since friends of late Ronnie McNutt remember him as "loyal and caring."

As friends regret not being quicker to get to his home and try to prevent the tragedy, others are terrified.

The former Army veteran, McNutt, recently lost his job and broke up with his girlfriend. But no one suspected that he would commit suicide.

And that makes the whole thing even sadder, and it will take time for all those who saw the video, to get over it.

Was this live video a call for help or a way to stay immortal, we'll never know.

The Suicide Video Is Trending

On the one hand, people are sad and scared. On the other, some keep reuploading the video, so it's impossible to avoid it.

It's been trending on TikTok and Twitter among the list of recommended videos.

It's bad enough to hear that a young person committed suicide, but to have them place a shotgun into their head, in front of your screen?

So, why is the video trending? Because this world is insane, and it keeps getting crazier.

TikTok And Other Networks Respond

Social networks, such as Facebook, TikTok, WhatsApp, and more, sent warnings to parents.

A TikTok spokesperson said: "On Sunday night, clips of a suicide that had been live-streamed on Facebook circulated on other platforms, including TikTok. Our systems have been automatically detecting and flagging these clips for violating our policies against content that displays, praises, glorifies, or promotes suicide. We are banning accounts that repeatedly try to upload clips."

They continued:

"If anyone in our community is struggling with thoughts of suicide or concerned about someone who is, we encourage them to seek support, and we provide access to hotlines directly from our app and in our Safety Centre."

Officials from Facebook said: "We removed the original video from Facebook last month on the day it was streamed and have used automation technology to remove copies and uploads since that time.

"Our thoughts remain with Ronnie's family and friends during this difficult time."

The Aftermath

Though Ronnie McNutt from New Albany killed himself ten days ago, the footage is a reminder to take better care of each other.

Additionally, there's a chance that someone might try to recreate it, which is another reason why you should report anyone trying to share this heartbreaking and horrific video.

May McNutt rest in peace, as the social media networks try to remove it, at least from the younger audience.
