A man, who was courageously willing to share a photo of the terrifying incident that altered his life forever, had been severed in half by a forklift.

Loren Schauers, who is currently 21 years old, was operating a forklift on a bridge in the United States in September 2019 when it careened off the edge and plummeted 50 feet to the ground.

As a result of being trapped under the four-ton vehicle, Schauers sustained injuries that significantly altered his life.

Following the accident, the builder had to undergo hemicorporectomy surgery, a courageous decision he made in order to survive, which involved amputating everything below his waist, resulting in the loss of three limbs.

After three years after the incident, the laborer has chosen to be brave and share pictures of the moment that almost claimed his life.

The pictures reveal a forklift tipped over at the edge of a steep hill, with Schauers not visible underneath it.

On Instagram, he said: "If you look closely in the second photo, you can see me still pinned under the forklift.

"Last photo is exactly what type it was I'm sure of."

Doctors had informed Sabia Reiche, who is now 23 years old and Schauers' current wife, at the time that Schauers would not survive, leading her to say her goodbyes a staggering six times.

Remarkably, he managed to survive, but his road to recovery has been a challenging journey.

Previously, Schauers had spoken about the accident, stating: "I was conscious throughout everything so I actually watched as the forklift fell on top of me and crushed my body."

"Every medical professional I come across is pretty amazed by everything, especially with the story that comes along with my injuries."

"It wasn't a hard choice to have half of my body amputated - it was basically a choice of living or dying."

"With Sabia assuring to stay by my side no matter what and all my immediate family being around me, it really wasn't a hard choice for me!"

Since the accident, Schauers has gained thousands of followers and documented his life through vlogs on a YouTube channel he shares with his wife.

He shares updates on his life with their fans, and Reiche has been by his side throughout all his health issues and daily necessities.

During a recent Q&A, the couple was asked about their sexual activity, to which Reiche responded that the question was 'disrespectful'.

She said: "A question we get repeatedly is how do we have sex and how do we become intimate," she said.

"That is a very personal question that we are never going to answer or allude to as it's very disrespectful."

"You wouldn't ask a random couple on the street how they have sex and just because our life circumstances are different, it doesn't give people the right to ask."
