Attention Malibu fans! Our favorite brand is selling a new rum-based strawberry spritz!

Malibu is taking its cocktails up a notch. While there's nothing more classic than a Malibu Rum mixed with pineapple juice, this alcoholic beverage company has released a brand new drink, and it sounds incredible.

The drink, which is said to be 'bursting with the taste of strawberry and a drop of coconut,' comes in a 75cl bottle with an alcohol volume of 11% ABV. The strawberry tipple is also said to be best enjoyed poured over ice, and it requires no mixer.

The booze is available in stores and online at Tesco, and the 75cl bottle costs approximately £9.50 ($12.28) each.

The drink was first created by Tom Jago of International Distillers & Vintners in 1982 and was initially made from fruit spirits, then flavored with rum and coconut in Curaçao.

Initially, this drink was used to simplify the making of piña coladas by bartenders, but it proved popular in its own right in the market. Malibu rum is currently made by West Indies Rum Distillery.

Pernod Ricard UK marketing director Philip Ainsworth gushed in a press release saying:

"Summer is a key time for the Malibu brand as its target consumer looks for Instagrammable, sweet, yet refreshing drinks to enjoy during social occasions."

"Malibu Strawberry Spritz provides an additional element of theatre as it can be popped like a bottle of Prosecco yet enjoyed and garnished like a pink gin and tonic."

Though the original form of Malibu rum was coconut flavored, several other new flavors have hit the market since the drink's inception, including pineapple, passion fruit, banana, island melon, and mango, and Malibu Fresh, a unique blend with mint, a double-strength version called Malibu Black, and a tequila known as Malibu Red.

Malibu Strawberry Spritz sounds like it's going to be one of our favorite drinks.

Its description reads:

"Spritz up your summer with Malibu Strawberry Spritz."

"A sparkling rum-based spritz bursting with the taste of strawberry and a drop of coconut. The perfect drink to be shared with friends."

Just pop the bottle, pour the rum over ice, and get to sipping. Sure, it's really that easy.

There's only one problem. The drink is only available in the UK for the time being. Yes, I know our hearts hurt.
