Gianna Floyd celebrated her first birthday without her father, George Floyd.
The little girl turned seven, and though nothing and no one will ever replace her dad, a party helped her with the pain. And it was paid by a rapper, Lil Baby.
The L.O.L Dolls-themed Birthday Party
Gianna and her friends celebrated her birthday at The Pink hotel in Georgia, Atlanta.
Lil Baby funded this gathering. As the pictures show, everyone wore masks and kept their distance, for the most part.
The rapper had help from former NBA player Stephen Jackson, who was George Floyd's friend.
Gianna's mother said:
"This is a very difficult time for my daughter, so we're very grateful that our extended family is creating such a special experience for Gianna on her first birthday without her father."
Stephen Jackson shared pictures, and it seems that the little one had a great time. With her family and friends, Gianna's L.O.L. themed party was precisely what the girl needed to remember that she's loved and supported.
Gianna Floyd Expresses Gratitude
The pictures show party attendees wearing matching t-shirts that say "Happy Birthday Gianna."
Gianna got a mani-pedi, and it looks like it was a hit. She shared her gratitude online, writing:
"L.o.l Surprise Birthday Party Thank you so much, @lilbaby_1 for coming and help me celebrate my 7th Birthday,"
Lil Baby's hit song The Bigger Picture became an anthem for protests after the video of George Floyd's killing went viral.
We hope that one day Gianna will understand that though her father was taken away from her way too early, George Floyd's death united all people who understand the need for change and who want her generation to live in a better world.
