After the jury read their verdict in the defamation case of Johnny Depp against Amber Heard, the actor's legal team showed an outpour of emotions.
Depp won the defamation case against ex-wife Heard on Wednesday, June 1, as the jury ruled that Heard defamed Depp on all three counts.
Depp was awarded $15 million in damages in total, $10 million in compensatory damages, and $5 million in punitive damages.
In a short video, Depp's legal team appears emotional as the star of the trial, Camille Vasquez, Depp's attorney, wipes away the tears.
Outside the courtroom, Vasquez said:
"Today's verdict confirms what we have said from the beginning – that the claims against Johnny Depp are defamatory and unsupported by any evidence."
"We are grateful, so grateful to the jury for their careful deliberation."
Amber Heard was rewarded with $2 million in compensatory damages, as she did not manage to prove all of her claims.
Depp was not in the courtroom due to previous commitments. Amber Heard was, and she soon released a statement on her Twitter.
Depp, who followed the verdict reading on the Internet, also issued a statement on Instagram:
Do you think that Amber Heard's lawyers will appeal? Or is this a new beginning for both stars?
