Johnny Depp's Attorney Camille Vasquez Makes Partner After Major Win

Johnny Depp lawyer Camille Vasquez has been promoted to partner at her law firm Brown Rudnick, following success in Depp's high-profile case against Amber Heard.

Depp emerged victorious in his defamation trial against Amber Heard, walking away with at least $10.3 million damages and punitive compensation.

Not only did the high-profile case put his lawyer Camille Vasquez on the map, but it also propelled her to receive some surprising news in her career.

Vasquez, who has dominated headlines in recent weeks, belongs to the international law firm Brown Rudnick. And the firm announced on June 7 that it'd be promoting Vasquez to partner, a position that is widely considered the peak of a solicitor's career.

Brown Rudnick announced Vasquez's promotion in a press release, citing Vasquez's performance during Depp's trial.

Taking to Twitter, the law firm wrote:

"We are pleased to announce that Camille Vasquez has been elevated to partner."

"She was a key member of the litigation team that won a jury verdict last week for actor #JohnnyDepp in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard."

William Baldiga, chairman and CEO of Brown Rudnick, also announced in a statement:

"We are delighted to welcome Camille to the partnership."

"Historically, we have reserved this announcement for the end of our fiscal year. But Camille's performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now."

"We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our newest partner."

After the news, Vasquez responded:

"I am delighted that Brown Rudnick has given me its full vote of confidence by having me join the partnership."

"I'm proud of the uniquely talented team I've had the privilege to lead, which exemplified teamwork and collaboration, and I look forward to continuing to represent Brown Rudnick's culture of excellence."

Vasquez, 34, specializes in litigation and arbitration and was one of the nine attorneys involved in the Heard-Depp case.

She expertly grilled Heard on the stand, pressing her on numerous inconsistencies in her testimony in often testy exchanges, ultimately winning the public's heart.

And Depp's supporters had clamored online for Vasquez's promotion after she became an internet sensation.

Rumors also swirled that Vasquez was secretly dating Depp after the two shared an emotional hug in the Fairfax County Courthouse — but those proved to be false as the attorney is dating 38-year-old WeWork executive Edward Owen.

The two met back in November at London gastropub, The Cow, according to the DailyMail. Vasquez's developing relationship with Owen, who lives in England, is long-distance.

One day after the court issued the verdict, the pair were spotted leaving the Ritz-Carlton in McLean, Virginia.
