Joe Biden is planning to overturn Trump's military ban for transgender people, and the LGBTQ community has never been happier.

As a vice president in 2012, Biden endeared himself to the LGBTQ community by endorsing same-sex marriage.

Now, as president-elect, he's making sweeping promises to LGBTQ people, proposing to carry out major proposals on their wish lists.

And among them is lifting Trump's near-total ban on military service for trans people.

Biden also promised to integrate the LGBTQ community further into the government's fabric and create 'high-level LGBTQ positions at the State Department and other federal agencies.'

By doing so, Biden aims to support transgender and non-binary people in the workforce to ensure a clampdown on discrimination.

His administration will also make the 2019 Equality Act a major priority, which 'prohibits discrimination on sexual orientation and gender identity in public sectors.

These include 'housing, public accommodations, public education, federal funding, credit as well as the jury system.'

And Biden's plan to protect the rights of transgender people has received widespread praise across the nation.

Nicolas Talbott, a transgender man who took legal action over Trump's military ban, told the AP that he welcomed the plans.

He said:

"I look forward… to re-enroll in ROTC, so I can continue to train, keep up my fitness to serve, and become the best army officer I can possibly be."

However, Biden's Plan Has Also Faced Criticism from Conservatives

A Christian anti-LGBT+ activist and motivational speaker Dr. Chaps' slammed Biden in a recent newsletter.

Dr. Chaps, a former Navy chaplain, claimed Biden is planning to form a 'transgender, atheist army for the antichrist.'

He also claimed Biden is on a mission to 'transgenderize the military and punish Christian troops.'

The activist said:

"[They will force] female soldiers and students to share common showers and rooms with cross-dressing men or boys with male anatomy."

He added:

"Christian troops who object to sharing co-ed showers and bunks with opposite gender anatomy will be vilified as 'discriminators."

"They'll also get punished, demoted, discharged, or court-martialed."

Biden's support for transgender people comes after he acknowledged the Transgender Day of Remembrance weeks ago.

In his speech, he promised to fight for the trans community as it faces growing violence.

He said in a statement:

"On Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor their lives. [We] also recommit to the work that remains to ensure every transgender and gender-nonconforming person in America… lives authentically, earn a living wage… And is treated with dignity and respect in their communities and workplaces."
