Jason Momoa's activity on social media has been followed closely ever since Depp vs. Heard defamation trial started.
The verdict was reached on June 1, and Johnny Depp won on all three counts of defamation. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor received $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
However, Judge Penney Azcarate reduced the punitive damages to meet the state's limit of $350,000.
Amber Heard won on one count and will receive $2 million in compensatory damages.
Both actors shared their views on the verdict. Heard was disappointed as her statement said:
"The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband."
The actress then shared how this verdict might affect other women:
"I'm even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke up could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women should be taken seriously."
"I believe Johnny's attorneys succeeded in getting the jury to overlook the key issue of Freedom of Speech and ignore evidence that was so conclusive that we won in the U.K."
"I'm sad I lost this case. But I am sadder still that I seem to have lost a right I thought I had as an American — to speak freely and openly."
Jason Momoa simply pressed "like" on both statements. Perhaps the Aquaman wants to keep his neutral position, or he is glad that his co-star Heard and Johnny Depp can move on.
