After 16 years together, the last 5 of which they were married, Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet have decided to go their separate ways.
The couple issued a joint statement explaining that their relationship had come to an end. The cryptic statement read:
"We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times. A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception...feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so we share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage"
The statement went on to say that they had decided to share the news because they wished to continue with their lives with dignity and honesty. The couple will continue to love each other, but each is free to be whoever they are learning to become.
The statement also explained that the two would remain devoted to their kids.
The comments were turned off in the statement posted on Instagram, which shows they had every intention of avoiding any negative comments the statement might attract from social media users.
That did not stop people from expressing their shock and sadness on Twitter. For many of their fans, the news was truly heartbreaking.
Jason Momoa and his wife started seeing each other in 2005. Momoa is best known for his role in Aquaman and the hit series, Game of Thrones, while Lisa Bonet is best known as an actress in The Cosby Show.
Apparently, when the two met, they both had dreadlocks, although Momoa got dreadlocks for Lisa's sake because she had them. He made the confession while on The Conan O'Brien Show.
Apparently, the Aquaman actor knew she was the one during their first date together at Cafe 101. Lisa ordered nothing but a Guinness, and being a huge fan of the beverage himself, Momoa was beyond impressed with his date.
Two years after they started dating, there were rumors that they were actually married. The truth is that they actually got married several years later, in 2017.
The couple has two kids together.
