We are all for dating multiple people as long as you are doing it with their consent and for the right reasons.

However, dating 35 people to get birthday gifts is kind of a brilliant scam, yet definitely creepy and illegal. A Japanese man Takashi Miyagawa, 39, allegedly did just that, and he is facing some severe punishment.

Supply Of Presents Throughout The Year

Takashi's birthday is in November. Yet, he managed to get birthdays each month of the year.

He told various dates and months to his jilted partners. For example, he told a 49-year-old woman his date of birth is 22 February.

The next victim was told he was born in July, and another believed his birthday was in April.

Luckily, the ladies managed to find out about this scam, and Miyagawa might be spending his actual birthday behind bars.

Victims Association

Takashi's girlfriends realized they were being lied to, so they started a Victims Association.

These women reported Takashi to the police back in February.

He was arrested for fraud and might be facing additional fraud charges.

The Japanese Romeo's number of victims is suspected to be higher, but the police are still investigating.

We don't know how women learned about each other. It is safe to assume that social media played its part, like with Jason Collier.

Miyagawa got items worth a total of 100,000 Japanese Yen or just a little under 1000 USD for his fake birthdays.

The gifts include electronics, clothes, even a suit worth 280 dollars.

According to Soranews24, he worked part-time as a salesman for a multi-level marketing company. He met his victims while selling hydrogen water shower heads and similar equipment.

The police believe that Takashi targeted single women by promising them marriage. He also managed to sell them more equipment by using his seduction skills.

As we said, there is nothing wrong with dating more than one person. But making up birthdays and toying with people's emotions comes with a price.
