I've Always Put Other People's Happiness Before My Own, But Not Anymore

Throughout my life, I have had the tendency to prioritize others' needs and wants over my own. However, I have come to the realization that I am exhausted by this selfless approach, and I am no longer willing to continue it. It's time for me to prioritize my own happiness, and I have no regrets about this decision.

1. I Can't Please Everyone

Over the years, I have often heard the saying "you can't please everyone," but it's only recently that I have come to truly believe it. Despite my efforts to ensure the happiness and wellbeing of those around me, it always felt like an unattainable goal. I now understand that it is an impossible task, especially since others are not constantly trying to please me either. Therefore, I have decided to take responsibility for my own life and happiness.

2. I Don't Need Anyone's Approval

I have decided to live my life on my own terms and pursue my desires as I see fit, without any concern for others' opinions or judgments. If anyone takes issue with this, it is their problem as they are evidently not prioritizing my mental and emotional well-being. From now on, I will no longer heed others' advice on how to live or what to do to find happiness since I am the only one who knows what truly makes me happy.

3. People Are Ultimately Going To Think What They Want

I have come to terms with the fact that I cannot control how others perceive me or my aspirations. If someone considers my ambitions or aspirations to be foolish, I see no reason to waste my energy trying to persuade them otherwise. Regardless of what I say or do, people will hold onto their opinions, be they positive or negative. As the sole architect of my own life, I am content with my decisions and at peace with the path I choose to follow.

4. I Simply Don't Have The Time To Care

There are more pressing matters for me to attend to than ensuring the happiness of everyone around me. It is imperative that I concentrate on achieving my personal goals and aspirations. Although I am not unkind and always happy to lend a hand, there comes a point when one must prioritize their own well-being. That is precisely what I am doing- putting myself first.

5. I've Been Too Distracted From My Own Dreams And Ambitions For Too Long

I have made the mistake of relinquishing my dreams on multiple occasions in order to please others, but that is a thing of the past. It is now my turn to prioritize my own happiness, and I refuse to compromise on that again. If someone I am in a relationship with is unable to support me in this pursuit, then they need to leave because I am resolute in my focus and clear about what I want to achieve in life.

6. I've Wasted Too Much Time On People Who Didn't Stick Around

In the past, I went to great lengths and sacrificed my own well-being to satisfy others, be it my friends, family, or a romantic partner. However, I realize that my efforts were often futile since many of those individuals are no longer a part of my life. Therefore, I don't want to invest any more time or energy into trying to please people who won't be around for the long term.

7. It's My Time To Shine

Although I'm incredibly happy for my friends' achievements, including their career successes, fulfilling aspirations, and finding love, I also want to progress and develop myself. It's crucial for me to support them, but I also believe it's my turn to shine and demonstrate my abilities.

8. I'm The One In Control Of My Life

Ultimately, the direction of my life rests solely with me. It's essential for me to take control and prioritize my own happiness rather than constantly seeking to satisfy others. After all, I'm the one who must face the repercussions of my choices, so it's crucial to construct a life that brings me contentment and fulfillment. It's a no-brainer, really.

9. The People Who Really Matter Will Support Me

As I've witnessed the ebb and flow of friendships and romantic relationships, I've come to realize that investing significant effort into pleasing others at the expense of my own happiness is futile. I now understand which friends are truly dependable and will remain in my life through thick and thin. I'm confident that these close friends won't resent me for prioritizing my own well-being and pursuing my happiness, and they may even encourage me to do so.

10. Life Is Too Short

As far as I'm concerned, we only have one shot at life, and I don't believe in second chances. Therefore, I'm determined to make the most of it and seize every opportunity that comes my way. I refuse to let others dictate my choices or hold me back from living life to the fullest. I want to explore the places that ignite my curiosity, love whoever resonates with my heart, and prioritize my own desires and needs over pleasing others. This life is mine, and I intend to live it on my terms.
