Forget geek is chic. The new study suggests that you might be highly intelligent if you are a foul-mouthed lazy person who stays up all night.
A study from the University of Southern Denmark revealed that people who could name the most swear words in a minute score higher on an IQ test. Perhaps you are not cursing like a sailor but like Einstein or Tesla.
A study published in the journal Language Sciences also added that foul language does not mean a person cannot find the right words. Instead, they merely prefer to eff this and that.
Additionally, if you are a night owl, it could mean that you are "very bright." People who go to bed at 11:30 pm are "very dull," this study suggested, while those who stay up at least an hour more are less likely to be brilliant.
Another study, conducted at the University of Minnesota, praises laziness. Well, sort of.
The more creative you are, the less you want to fit into traditional boxes of what is acceptable; hence you might look like a slob.
Creativity goes hand in hand with intelligence, so messy implies you are wise.
Lead author Kathleen Vohs explained:
"Prior work has found that a clean setting leads people to do good things: Not engage in crime, not litter, and show more generosity."
Of course, there was a catch.
The author added:
"We found, however, that you can get really valuable outcomes from being in a messy setting."
There are numerous ways to learn your IQ. However, it does not mean that you will do great things merely because you were born with more grey cells. If anything, your nocturnal tendencies are not healthy, and going against conventional behavior for no reason stops being cute once you are an adult.
You win some, you lose some (sleep)!
