Many people end up shackled to daily routines they cannot free themselves of. Over time, we think that we have to play it safe. Change scares us because it tries to make us venture into the unknown.
For that reason, we hold on to something we don't really like. And it's because the fear of letting go of what we already know to try something new scares us.
Because of this reason, many people miss out on great opportunities to make it to their next stage in life and achieve the dreams they always cherished.
However, there is a simple solution to changing the things you don't like about your life — leave them behind. If your job does not make you happy, quit!
Why should you continue doing something that drains you in every possible way and makes you incapable of growing and learning things that would make you a better person?
And don't think for one moment that you are too old to find new opportunities. People have struggled their whole lives doing things they don't really love before changing their lives around and building empires in their 70s.
Never do anything miserable. Circumstances might force you to do so for a while, but as soon as you have a chance, you should get out instead of holding on based on the fear that you will not find a better opportunity anywhere. Some fear that they might struggle too much before achieving their ultimate goals.
Your happiness should be very important to you. You should be willing to change whatever does not make you happy about your life as soon as you get the chance.
So, if your friends or your relationship don't make you happy, you should leave. You should not be tied to people who drain you and keep you from achieving your dreams.
It is your responsibility to protect yourself from bad influences. You should stick to people who are as ambitious as you are, people who are as adventurous as you are, people who are as entrepreneurial as you are. If you bind yourself to those opposed to doing the things that bring you happiness, then you will have a very miserable life.
Don't be mediocre just to accommodate certain people in your life.
It should not be such a great deal that you have been with your partner for years. If the relationship is not going the way you would have liked, and you are just 'toughing it out', then you are better off leaving.
Even though there are some romantic moments in your life, if the relationship is not making you happy, then it is not worth pursuing. A good relationship should make it easier for you to achieve your dreams in life.
The comfort of the familiar can feel good, and yes, it takes time to build. But don't be afraid to see what life in another city is like if moving is all you think about. Our wild ideas might not always work out, sure, but they also might give you the life you have always wanted.
Even when the things you want to try don't work out, it is not usually half as bad as your fears tell you it will be. So, make the leap and change your life.
Happiness is on the other side of fear, and it will not come to you. You have to change your life to get to it.
