Who would make fun of a little girl's name unless they were a total jerk? Shockingly, this is what a gate agent working with Southwest Airlines did.

This shows that bullies are not just confined to school corridors and playgrounds.

The one thing these awful people have in common is that they make many kids afraid or even unwilling to explore the worlds around them.

Typically, children bully their peers because they have some personal issues they are struggling with. For these kids, we can only hope that time heals their wounds and turns them into responsible adults.

But what about the adult bullies we meet in our daily lives? What hope is there for them?

Some of us have bullies within our families. Others have bullies at work.

Then we have bullies who still act like they are still in high school.

Even so, having an adult bully a child is something else entirely, and that's what we are talking about here.

A Mom Caught A Gate Agent Mocking Her Girl's Name

Traci and her daughter, Abcde (ab-city), were waiting to get on their plane so they could fly home to Texas. They were at the John Wayne Airport, and a Southwest Airlines plane would get them home.

Abcde is epileptic, which means she and her mom had to get on their plane early. During this process, Traci heard a flight attendant giggling.

However, the gate agent was laughing shamelessly while pointing at the girl. She was also talking to other employees.

When Traci realized what was going on, she turned around and told the gate agent, "if I can hear you, my daughter can hear you, so I'd appreciate it if you'd just stop."

The Gate Agent Took To Facebook To Share A Distasteful Joke About The Girl

Although the gate agent felt that Abcde was a strange name, she did not have to make fun of the girl. Sure, some people prefer specific names to others, but that is no justification for what she did.

The gate agent made things worse by joking about the girl's name even after getting on the plane.

Things moved from bad to worse when a friend informed Traci that her daughter's boarding pass had been shared on Facebook.

The disgusting gate agent had taken a photo of the girl's pass and shared it on social media without her or her mother's permission.

Naturally, Traci immediately reported the incident to Southwest Airlines. Unfortunately, it was still too late for Abcde, who had already suffered trauma due to the awful experience.

The little girl asked her mom why the gate agent laughed at her name. All Traci could say was:

"... not everyone is nice, and not everyone is going to be nice – and it's unfortunate."

Southwest Airlines Gave An Apology

Upon learning about the incident, Southwest Airlines issued an official apology to the mother and her daughter.

The company assured the public that it took pride in treating its customers with respect, both physically and on the web. It also said that it had done a follow-up of the case with the employee involved.

"We have followed up with the employee involved, and while we do not disclose personnel actions publicly, we are using this as an opportunity to reinforce our policies and emphasize our expectations for all employees."

Based on this statement, people believe the employee got nothing but a slap on the wrist for what she did, which comes as a massive disappointment to those empathizing with the girl's plight.

So, many people were left wondering what kind of airline is okay with their employees bullying little kids.
