Taking control of your own life can be a real challenge, especially when you’re at a low. Sometimes the world doesn’t get to save you, and you have to save yourself. Swoop right in and become your very own hero.
Take the reins of your life, and everything will start falling in place. If it doesn’t, then it’s not the end. If it’s not the end, you don’t draw the curtains on it just yet.
In life, we often sit back and hope other people would come right in and rescue us from our crumbling life. Most times, we are heavily disappointed. But this isn’t a terrible thing. It can be a better thing.
How Taking Control of Your Life Can Make You More Successful
Calling all the shots in your own life can be scary. You notice this overwhelming feeling when you get a job, move out of your family home, start a relationship, or even start having children. You should realize that not everyone can take full control of their lives.
If you sit on a chair and wait for life to hit you, you don’t have a say. You don’t give a fighting chance to get something you actually want.
Instead, you settle. You let someone else be the hero in your life. Do you know what that boils down to? You are a minor character in your own story. Taking control and putting that into your own hands’ changes everything.
Ways to Take Control of Your Life and Be Your Hero
Instead of sitting on your butt all day complaining about things going wrong in your life, you can do one better. Not making excuses, staying away from negativity, etc. are wonderful ways to begin.
If you fail, you get to stand up and try again. Remember, the good thing about hitting rock bottom is that there’s only one place left to go. UP!
Here’s how to take control of your life and become your own hero:
Analyze Your Life as It Is
Before fixing something, you need to know where it’s broken. So, take a step back and analyze your life as it is. Ask yourself what your true emotions are. Do you feel little to no happiness? What could be the reason, and what can you do about it.
Draw out all the things in your life that could be wearing you out. Ways you wish it could be better. How you think someone else can help and ways, you can take that responsibility upon yourself. Find out things about yourself and why your life isn’t going according to plan.
Stop Making Excuses
One of the reasons many people don’t go far in life is because they make many excuses. Instead of making these excuses, try to eradicate them.
You’re too tired? Get some sleep. You’re so weak? Take your vitamins. You’re too fat? Start working out. You’re not so smart? Start reading more or finding your strengths.
Be intentional about things, and you notice a huge difference in how you perceive them. When you do this, you realize you get more things done. The life you want doesn’t just come to you. You have to walk toward it intentionally.
Avoid Negative Influences
Pessimists are people you should run far away from. You meet them at every corner of your life, but that doesn’t mean they have to be there. To see the good things of life, you have to avoid these negative influences all around you.
People like this would always try to make you second guess your decisions. Your thoughts and your actions, even when you are a hundred percent sure of it.
If people always whispering in your ears aren’t living a life they can be proud of or you impressed by, then you’re better off ignoring them. Always trust your instincts. They are mostly always right.
Think About Any Decision You’re About to Make Carefully
Before taking action, make sure you think it out thoroughly and not spontaneously. Think with a clear mind free of pride and prejudice. Before taking action, ask yourself just how it benefits you and others around you.
Will it make you a better person? Is it a step closer to achieving a goal? If it’s no for both questions, then you’re better off without it.
Take That Bold Step and Do It Confidently
You’ve thought about your decisions carefully; what next? Take that bold step. Take actions and do so confidently. The world isn’t a nice place, and you shouldn’t cower in fear at the slightest altercation. In other to move forward, you have to take that step and not just thinking of taking it.
Start that business you’ve always wanted to. Call the job you applied for to see how it went. Move into that apartment. Profess your love to someone. Actions are the engines of the train, which is your life. They keep it moving.
Be True to Yourself
Always remember what makes you unique. Don’t give up on your morals and values because you’re trying to prove a point.
It’s a terrible step to take, and it’s something you look back and regret for the rest of your life. Don’t give up what makes you your own hero.
Never Give Up
As mentioned earlier, life can be tough, and people have lots of problems in their lives. It’s how you deal with it that matters. So instead of letting it break you, let it strengthen you. A Japanese proverb goes,” we are fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.”
Never give up, and from the bottom of my heart, I mean never. Especially if you strongly believe it can change your life for the best.
As long as you have good reasons, go for it. Take control of your life and be your own hero. I’m rooting for you.
