June is Pride Month, and most of us are celebrating equality and love. Some are taking the time to educate themselves on the LGBT+ issues, while others are posting encouraging messages on social media.
However, one woman in Tennessee decided that it's the perfect time to destroy the Pride mural.
Two teens, Jasmine Martinez and Carmen McClain, who painted it, caught her in action, and this disgraced "Karen" is now a viral sensation for all the wrong reasons.
Destroying The Pride Mural
In the videos, which are viral on TikTok, Twitter, and Reddit, the woman is seen carrying two cans of spray paint and painting over a pride flag mural on the side of a bridge.
This particular bridge is famous for its art, and during Pride month, it turns into a perfect place for presenting pro-gay artwork.
The two teens had originally painted the rainbow, pansexual, transgender and bisexual flags on the bridge. However, this "Karen" decided to end the month of love by stating that "they are not paying taxes."
16-year-old Carmen, who is behind the camera, replied:
"I have just as much right as you, actually I have more damn right because you know what? I work, I pay taxes, I'm an American, born here."
The woman continued with her homophobic slurs:
"I'm sick of you all's s–t. Y'all are just constantly, it's constantly something, always trying to stand out, make a big freaking scene if y'all would shut up…"

Carmen's friend, Jasmine asked the unhinged woman:
"We're making a scene?"

The woman then continues destroying the mural and stating:
"Look. Cause all you wanna do is express, express, express."

Clearly, even this woman forgot what made her destroy this reminder that love knows no boundaries. She even stated she wanted to paint the American flag on the mural because "that's what we stand for".
Carmen simply told her that she doesn't have the right colors for the US flag.
Sorry, Karen, But We Are Having None Of It

After the videos took rounds around the world, people started to come together to create a new mural.
Some even called "Karen's" workplace and pointed out that her behavior is not acceptable.

To make matters worse, Carmen is not a young white woman, so many are calling this a racist and homophobic attack.
People showed their support as they gathered holding signs:
"Love is Love."
Despite this despicable act of pure hate, it is safe to say that love won.

The whole bridge looked even brighter and more welcoming, whether you are gay, bi, trans, non-binary. Yet, just hours later it was destroyed once again.
We believe that the homophobes will finally get the message soon. At least, we hope so!
