Most children never come to learn of the dangers that lurk in the worlds just beyond their parents' protective shield. They live life relatively recklessly, and their parents are often there to ensure they don't make any life-changing mistakes.

Still, even when parents try their best, they may not always offer the protection their kids need. After all, kids are still independent thinkers, as clueless as they might be when it comes to many things in life.

For instance, Chris Tomlinson managed to get away from his parents when he was two years old, and the little misadventure ended in him suffering 98% burns all over his body.

Many years later, he is the father of two healthy adolescent girls.

Severe Burns In Childhood

After the burns he suffered throughout his body, Chris got severe scarring.

Chris escaped his parents' attention when he was two. He got into the garden shed. For most kids his age, this would be a lovely time to explore the world.

Unfortunately, during his ill-fated adventure, he spilled gasoline on himself. The pilot light for the geyser turned on, and in an instant, he was covered in flames.

When his mother found him, she rushed him to the hospital, but he had already experienced extensive burns throughout his body.

Chris suffered unimaginable pain. In total, 98% of his body had been burned. The doctors who worked on him thought he had a 1% chance of pulling through.

Despite the unlikely odds, he survived but was scarred all over his body. Even after his discharge from the hospital, his problems were far from over.

As he grew up, another harsh reality dawned on him: It would be almost impossible for him to get kids. Once again, he would prove everyone wrong by defying these odds.

Sadly, getting kids was not his only challenge. Holding down a stable job also proved to be quite a problem.

Chris and his family ended up homeless, and he explained his challenges on social media. He also took the opportunity to discuss some of the challenges that disabled people experience.

His TikTok account has over 49.7k followers. These people are eager to learn more about his interesting life.

Chris has been married for 14 years, and his wife left him with their two children when life proved to be more than she could bear. He has since been a single dad raising two girls.

When asked how he felt when his wife left, he said it was "horrible" and confessed that the experience was worse than getting burned all over again.

Chris Has Not Lost His Faith In God

Even after all he went through, Chris did not lose his faith in God. In fact, this faith is what gave him the courage to live his life to the fullest.

He always tries to see the silver lining in everything he does. Chris would always have a big smile on his face knowing that God was with him:

"It wasn't just by my strength, it was God who was there for me the whole time."

As far as Chris is concerned, God performs miracles every day, although many people think "God's not working anymore."

"God does miracles every second every day. All you got to do is look around you."

Chris Has Also Talked About Self Love

Chris has been kind enough to offer some insights on self-love in a YouTube video shared by Special Books by Special People. He was asked if he thought that people should accept themselves to live full and happy lives, and he said that, to some extent, they have to.

He felt that people should acknowledge their differences and embrace themselves. Chris also said that people should accept themselves because you can only be happy with your life once.

However, he accepts that he will "always struggle with things." He also believes that by finding happiness within yourself and loving yourself, it is possible to share that happiness with others.

Given his situation, a GoFundMe page was set up for Chris to help him and his daughters find shelter, food, and clothing. So far, his fans have raised $63,145.
