A man who chooses to give his girlfriend his hood while keeping the jacket for himself has not escaped the attention of an eagle-eyed camera-wielding passerby. He gave her the hood to help her keep her new hairstyle dry because it was raining, but would not part with his jacket.

The upsetting scene was recorded by Jake Shannon after the truth about the scenario dawned on him as he was driving by. He even drove back to film the two, who were strolling in Northwich, Cheshire.

We won't go into why he would go to such lengths to mind other people's business.

For now let's focus on this man and his girlfriend.

The girl does not have any coat, except for the hood on her head. The hood is clearly from the guy's jacket.

The Video Was Shared On Facebook

Jake shared the video on Facebook with the words:

You love your young lady… however do you love her enough to give her the hood off your jacket!? [This] man's setting principles around here that I can't meet.

I was unable to quit giggling. It was pounding it down. I figure he has paid for her hairstyle and didn't need it demolished. It's without a doubt – I would do likewise in the event that I'd paid for my missus' hair.

I have no clue about why he decided to simply give her the hood and not the entire coat. He likely didn't have any desire to get wet himself, however, thought he better secure her hair.

I believe it's extremely uncommon, it's very imaginative. In the event that I was out when it was coming down, I would simply give my missus my jacket, I could never think to unfasten the hood and simply give her that. I figure my missus would simply take my jacket off me.

The Comments Started Pouring In

The post caused a flurry of comments while being shared all over the web. Opinions were divided on whether the man was right in doing what he did.

A lot of people insisted that he should have given the girl his jacket, not just the hood. Others see the man as honorable for offering the lady his hood.

There were also a large number of ladies tagging their men asking if they would behave in a similar manner.

A few suspected that the gesture might have had something to do with the man paying a lot of money for the girl's hairstyle:

A Lost Opportunity?

But there are those who think the man would have gained a lot of mileage in the relationship by giving the lady his entire jacket. Apparently, he didn't think this through.

If he had given the lady his coat and got drenched in rain, then got a cold as a result, the lady would have been stuck taking care of him and showing him lots of love, just as he would have done by freely offering his jacket.

Heck, he could have ride the pity and admiration for a week. But he lost the chance to be a true winner here.

But in all honesty, whatever led to the man's decision to share nothing more than this hood, is something only he can explain. We can only speculate on what really went down based on what we see; which doesn't say a lot about what really happened here.
