Fans went into a frenzy after an online leak revealed a screenshot from the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6.

Due to the secretive nature surrounding GTA 6, it's unsurprising that fans are eager to gather any piece of information available.

While a significant leak last year provided strong evidence of the game's development, Rockstar Games only recently confirmed its existence in a GTA 5 Community Update last month. The update revealed that the company is actively working on the next installment of the Grand Theft Auto series.

Although the developer has not disclosed the game's release date, last year's leak included development footage and source code, and now a screenshot has emerged.

The image was posted on the GTA 6 subreddit this week by user u/thetensedoctor, who included a spoiler warning. Their comment, "This looks so good man," made it difficult for Reddit users to resist clicking the 'see spoiler' button.

The recently leaked image portrays a female playable character in a nighttime scene. The character is walking in a fenced-off car park located in a city suburb, while a group of people stands together chatting on the left side of the image.

Although the exact timing of the screenshot remains unknown, the impressive graphics have sparked great enthusiasm among fans, eagerly awaiting the game's release, albeit uncertain when that might be.

After the image was shared across the internet, a commenter wrote, "This game is going to be f**king insane." Check it out for yourself below:

"[It's] genuinely gonna be a world event, the day the trailer drops will be crazy of course, but the day [the] game releases is basically going to be like humanity's mini quarantine," a fan shared.

"Even by an unfinished game's standards, these graphics are honestly some of the best I've ever seen," one commenter pointed out.

"It feels like so real. Damn, I can't wait to play this game," a third enthused.

Last month, Rockstar acknowledged the immense anticipation surrounding the upcoming title in its confirmation of the game, stating: "On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you!"

Meanwhile, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive, announced plans to 'set creative benchmarks for the series, our industry, and for all entertainment', setting high expectations for the title. Only time will tell whether the developer can fulfill its promises and satisfy fans' expectations.
