What's a true friend? Sometimes, it's hard to know the difference until a real crisis hits you and all your fake friends scatter and leave you suffering on your own.
By then, it's too late, and you would have invested far too much time and resources into this person.
It would be better if you knew who is real and who is not long before you put your hopes and dreams in the wrong person.
Luckily, that's what we are here for today. Here are some qualities you only find in a true friend. The real deal.
1. Walking The Talk
It's simple if your friend always promises and never delivers, that's very telling. When you plan to go out together, do they actually make an effort to see it through? If not, don't expect that friend to show up when you need a true friend to rescue you from the deepest woes of life.
2. Making Time For You
Time is very precious, and we give it to people we really care about, even when we are busy. That is why only a true friend would put everything on hold to attend to your needs. A friend who does not find time for you even when they have free time is not the real deal.
3. They Accept You
First of all, there is a difference between having a friend accept you and having the same friend motivate you to be better. If you are slacking and your business is failing, and a friend pushes you to do better, that's okay.
But if your friend has a problem with who you are and how you live your life, then that's a problem. Don't become a puppet in pursuit of friendship. It's a terrible price to pay for friendship, and you get the worst quality there is.
4. They Make You A Better Person
A good friend does not only show up when you need help the most. They also want you to become the best version of yourself. When you are messing up your life, they will tell you even if it might piss you off and make you want to keep your distance. This person would sacrifice anything to make sure you reach your full potential, including your friendship and the benefits it offers them.
And so, in your circle, how many true friends do you think you have? Don't worry, if you have one true friend, then you have made it in this life. Many people have watched their closest friends and family members eat them alive at their most vulnerable. So, learn to spot the pretenders and create an opportunity for a real friend to come into your life. That's one of life's greatest achievements.
