Girl Suspended For Selling ‘Sex Toys,’ School Misses Important Details

As Frances Halbeck, a student at Trinity Lutheran was enjoying a basketball game, the school principal pulled her out of the pitch and admonished her as her classmates watched. She was confused, especially after getting accused of selling sex toys to other students.
However, things got even worse when she was told she had been suspended for three days as a result. The truth is that the campus got it all wrong: the girl is not into the business of selling sex toys.
Instead, Frances was selling “water snake wigglies”, and she is just twelve years old for heaven’s sake.
In fact, she had the permission to sell her products for a return of $1 each from her home room teacher.
She would do it in between classes. The entrepreneurial girl seized the opportunity and began selling her stuff.
The girl had done her research and discovered that the products were beneficial to autistic children as they can be soothing, which means they could help ease stress.
Frances told reporters about the “water snake wigglies”:
“It just calms you down when you touch it. You squeeze it, it’s cold, and it’s hard to hold sometimes.”
However, the Wisconsin schoolgirl soon discovered that a few people did not see her products as she did. She faced a three-day suspension based on the ridiculous accusation that she was selling adult toys.
Father Trying To Clear The Girl’s Name
After explaining to her father, Milt Halbeck, what had happened, he was obviously very upset:
“In your wildest imaginations, no adult could possibly view this as a sex toy. This is a water filled bag.”
Milt will stop at nothing to clear her daughter’s name.
It is honestly quite difficult to understand why any adult would have considered a “water snake wigglie” anything but a simple child toy.
However, the school board sided with the principal and would not comment on the issue.
According to David Gehne, a pastor at Trinity Lutheran, they won’t even discuss the issue:
“We wouldn’t discuss the details of any situation regarding one of our children, they’re all minors.”
Frances Halbeck will pay for this misunderstanding, especially if the school does not remove the suspension from her record. Hopefully, her father will be successful in clearing her name.
In all fairness, this incident should not spoil the girl’s name.
The 12-year-old, in addition to dealing with this ordeal, had to learn about a topic no girl her age should know about:
“I just learned something I shouldn’t have.”
All this was caused by the principal’s obvious ignorance.
What’s ironic is that the girl’s parents took her to a Christian school to protect her from getting exposed to the sort of things she has had to go through in such a public manner.
This plan went to hell when the misguided principal chose to believe that a 12-year-old would be selling sex toys to the other students.
It’s truly sad when an adult’s mistake messes up a child’s life. These guardians should be the first to nurture and protect the young lives.
Making unfounded accusations and dishing out undeserved punishments that could affect the children all their lives is something educators should avoid.
Otherwise, such mistakes are terrible especially when the kids are completely innocent of the accusations they face. Unfortunately, some of these kids suffer the negative impacts of these mishaps all their lives, and that is a very real possibility for Frances Halbeck.
