Moranis became famous in the early 1980s as a star of the sketch comedy series Second City Television. Then he became one of the best-known comedic faces, landing roles in blockbuster movies like Ghostbusters and Honey I Shrunk the Kids.

During the 90s, he decided to put his career aside and focus on parenting.

Without a motive, and any further info, catching the Canadian actor's attacker seems unlikely, but not impossible.

Moranis enjoys the respect he earned back in the day, and Chris Evans was among the first colleagues to react to this unfortunate incident.

The actor tweeted:

My blood is boiling. Find this man. You don't touch Rick Moranis.
