Convicted pedophile Jeffery Epstein's former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, has been charged with sex trafficking a minor. According to prosecutors in New York, she groomed a 14-year-old girl to have sex with Epstein. She also allegedly paid the girl for those acts.
The daughter of media mogul, Robert Maxwell, was in a relationship with Epstein in the 1990s. She evidently did not just introduce him to wealthy and powerful men but also underage girls.
On Monday, a 24-page indictment was released, detailing eight new counts. Far back as 2001 or thereabout, Maxwell and Epstein "enticed and recruited, caused to be enticed and recruited minor girls to visit Epstein's Palm Beach residence."
Their motive was "to engage in sex acts with Epstein, after which Epstein, Maxwell, or another employee of his, would give the victims hundreds of dollars in cash."
Lurking The Underage Girls
Hiding under the disguise of delivering a massage service, Maxwell called victims to Epstein's Palm Beach house in Florida, says the prosecutors.
The indictment reads:
"When a victim initially arrived at the Palm Beach Residence, she would be greeted by an employee of Epstein's, including at times, Maxwell. The victim would then be escorted to a room with a massage table. Once inside, the victim would provide a nude or semi-nude massage for Epstein who would himself typically be naked. During these encounters, Epstein would escalate the nature and scope of the physical contact to include sex acts such as groping and direct and indirect contact with the victim's genitals."
The indictment further explains that Maxwell knowing fully well that Epstein had a preference for underage girls and intended to engage in sexual activities with them, yet facilitated his access to these minor victims.
The new accuser stated in the indictment, identified as Minor-Victim 4 that she was supposedly 14 when Maxwell had interacted with her. She knew that the girl was well under 18.
This girl eventually brought other young girls below 18 to Epstein's home. According to the indictment, Maxwell encouraged her to recruit more girls.
Crimes Date Back To The Early 90s
The amended indictment covers alleged crimes from 1994 to 2004 both in Florida and New York. When initially accused of recruiting and grooming three teenage girls for sex for Epstein between 1994 and 1997, Maxwell pleaded not guilty. Maxwell, 59, is in jail in New York City since her arrest in July last year.
Epstein committed suicide in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on August 10, 2019. According to federal prosecutors, he was alone in his cell the night he died. There were controversies regarding this since the pathologist hired by his family to investigate his death said that Epstein's body bore signs of homicide.
Fox reported:
"Mark Epstein, Jeffery's next of kin, had hired Baden to perform an independent investigation because the family wasn't getting answers... Last month, Baden, who observed the autopsy, told Fox news its findings were more consistent with homicide strangulation than suicidal hanging."
Baden said that Epstein had two fractures on the left and right sides of his larynx, that is, on the thyroid cartilage or Adam's apple. He also had one fracture on the left hyoid bone above the Adam's apple.
