A hidden cellphone camera caught Victor Junqueira from Goiania, Brazil, physically assaulting his girlfriend of three years, Luciana Sinzimbra.
Sharing the video, Luciana said she feared the argument could escalate. So she hid her cellphone in her room, with the camera facing them, recording.
The footage shows Victor sitting directly in front of the crying Luciana on the bed.
Suddenly the boyfriend slapped her in the face and hit her legs multiple times as she tried to kick him off.
Luciana then says:
“Stop hitting me!”
“You’re hitting me again!”
During the domestic dispute, the boyfriend accuses Luciana of lying.
“I’ll beat you up more, you lied to me that whole time.”
Moments later, he jumps onto the bed, grabs Luciana by the neck, and slams her into the bed.
According to Luciana, her boyfriend became furious because she forgot his gift at the bar they had visited.
In an interview with TV Globo, she explained:
“He said ‘alright, let’s go back there.'”
“We came back, and he said, ‘do not delay.’ And I simply ignored him.”
“So I went back to the restaurant, got the present, and then went to the car.”
“He then complained, ‘Phew, you ignored me, I was talking to you.'”
In remorse, she added:
“You can’t believe that the person you spent three years with that you lived with and made plans with could hurt you. That it will get to the point of killing you or of assaulting you as [Victor] attacked me.”
Following the assault, Luciana went to a local police station to press domestic violence charges against her boyfriend.
The cops charged the boyfriend with bodily injury, threat, and domestic violence. However, they didn’t arrest him.
Instead, they imposed ‘precautionary measures’ against him, including barring him from contacting Luciana.
The boyfriend’s lawyer, Romero Ferraz Filho, said he regretted his actions.
“He’s trying to digest this, analyze what got him in that situation. He’s extremely sorry he got where he came from and he’s not a violent guy.”
“Both had gotten drunk.”
But many social media users believe this is probably not the first time the boyfriend had been violent.
One person said:
“To the people saying she ‘set him up,’ have you been in a violent relationship? Obviously, he’s done it before for her to record this.”
While another added:
“She knew what was going to happen. She has probably been going through this for a while, so she set her phone up to capture the evidence.”
“Because police can’t do anything when someone vocally accuses another person, video evidence is the best way to prove it.”
