As I sit here writing the next confession, I am listening to "Have You Ever" by Brandy.

This song really does touch my soul. I always find myself listening to this song at the weirdest moments. I can't tell you that there is any specific reason behind listening to this song but tonight, It was the first song that popped into my head and seemed to be the most fitting.

After the last meeting with Hugh, I found myself reading into everything he said, did, and everything that was happening between us. I was literally making myself crazy!

I can honestly say that I have never felt this way about anyone in my life. I fell in love with a man that I couldn't have all to myself.

A lot of you have been asking me if he was truly separated and at this time I wasn't sure if it was true. He never seemed to stay over the night...and that made me very suspicious....

The next time I saw Hugh, I was determined to pull him up on this...I couldn't understand why he was acting the way he was....the problem was that the next time I saw Hugh....It was going to be under really, REALLY bad circumstances.

I was sitting in my office when my phone rang. I decided I would take the call outside as I didn't recognise the number and it was an interstate number.

"Hello?" I answered.
"Hello, is that Ava Reilly?" said the male voice.
"Speaking" I responded.
"Hello Ava, my name is Detective Warwick from (Interstate Police Commission) and I am calling as I would like to discuss Mr. Hugh Montgomery. Do you have a moment?"

My heart sank so low that I literally almost passed out.

"Can I ask what this is regarding?" I said as I clutched my phone harder as it almost slipped out of my hand.

"I would like to discuss with you a pending legal case against Mr. Montgomery in which we believe you will have information that will support the current allegations."

I was completely gobsmacked...What could I possibly know?

"What allegations?" I responded. I had no idea about any pending legal action.

"We would like to discuss a text message that you received on #UndisclosedDate. We believe that this text message was sent to you and that you would know what happened on this date". Now let me tell you this. The text message and the allegations against Hugh were not of an extreme nature. This was to do with financial gain over business affairs.

I had no idea what he was talking about. The text message that he had mentioned was nothing sinister. It was simply a text message sent in a humorous way.

"Detective Warwick...I don't know anything about any of the allegations you have mentioned. I do not know anything about Mr. Montgomery's business affairs. We work closely but not that closely." I responded after he had advised me of the allegations that Hugh had been charged with.

"Would it be fair to say that there is a personal relationship between yourself and Mr. Montgomery?" he responded.

"We are friends, close friends but I am not sure what this has to do with anything...I don't know anything about what you have mentioned and I do not know anything about what you have told me. I'm sorry I cannot help you any further."

"Ms. Reilly. I am not sure I believe that. I will give you 24 hours to think about this and I will call you back. In the meantime, I would appreciate it if you didn't say anything to Mr. Montgomery as this could hinder our investigation".

"I don't know anything so I am very doubtful of that." With that, I ended the call.

I immediately called the boss and told her what was happening as we have an extremely close friendship.

During that call I heard the infamous *click*.................*click* that meant my phone was being tapped.

She called Hugh and reached his voicemail, where she told him to call her immediately.

Within minutes of her calling him, he called me. Begging me to call him, he left a voicemail message.....probably paranoid that I had told her all about us and it was going to cause issues.

I got off the phone from her and called Hugh back. I told him that the officer had called me and that he was calling me the next day. He tried to calm me down and I screamed at him for getting me involved and not telling me. He told me I wasn't the only one. They were trying to tear all of his friendships apart and that I was safe because I really didn't know anything but he hadn't done anything wrong. I truly believe that he is innocent of what he was accused of....even to this day. All I can say about the allegations is that it was the most stupid thing to be accused of and it wasn't even a serious crime....I mean really...there are murderers out there, drug dealers, rapists who deserve to be locked up but instead, they are chasing financial affairs!

I ended the call with Hugh, both of us knowing that our phones were tapped.

He texted me from another mobile phone that he had for personal reasons and we talked through that.

The next day the officer called me as promised and I reiterated that I knew nothing.

"I don't believe you. How could you not know. I will be flying up to see you with my partner. It won't take long but we would like to interview you".

I couldn't argue with the law and didn't want to be bought into it. I agreed and prepared to tell them exactly what I had already told them....I knew nothing.

Without fail, the next day the two officers flew up and I met with them.

I was extremely naive to it all and didn't even ask to see their badges. I was so intimidated and scared for myself but mostly for Hugh.

During that conversation, I found a lot out about Hugh and his family and they still didn't believe I didn't know anything.

"We will pick you up from work tonight and we would like to take your official statement. Once we have that, you can return to your life as it is"

How could I argue with them? They were the police!

"If I give you my statement can you guarantee that I will not be subpoenaed and this will be the end of it all?"

"Absolutely. Once you have made your statement that is it."

That afternoon they picked me up from work and as they were driving, they told me that Hugh was the scum of the earth....It wasn't until I had been in the car with them for 20 minutes that they told me they would be taking me to a motel they were staying at....I immediately became afraid but froze on the spot. I couldn't breathe...I couldn't do ANYTHING....I couldn't even get out of the car!

What happened next, even you will be shocked into submission!
