The South African-born entrepreneur Elon Musk, whose fortune is estimated to be $210 billion, announced that he would no longer support Democrats, as he did in the past. Instead, he will vote for GOP.
Musk said:
"I have voted overwhelmingly for Democrats, historically. Like, I'm not sure, I might never have voted for a Republican, just to be clear."
The Space X SEO then stated:
"Now, this election, I will."
It is unclear whether he referred to the presidential elections in 2024 or the midterm elections.
He shared his thoughts on the All-In podcast and later confirmed them on his Twitter account.
Elon Musk, dubbed the wealthiest man on the planet, has been increasingly criticizing President Biden's cabinet, saying:
"It's hard to tell what Biden's doing, to be totally frank. The real president is whoever controls the teleprompter, you know. The path to power is the path to the teleprompter."
And it is not like Musk is a Trump supporter, as he stated he would prefer someone "less divisive."
In the same interview, the Tesla owner did not refrain from criticizing Twitter's left-wing bias.
Elon Musk called Twitter to explain the number of fake accounts or bots. Musk has repeatedly challenged Twitter's claim that spambots make up only 5% of the platform's users.
Though the negotiations are not done, Twitter would be Musk's third large company, alongside Tesla and SpaceX.
He stated numerous times that he wants to restore free speech on the platform. Newsweek reported that Musk said:
"I get trashed by the media all the time. That's fine. I don't care, good."
"Do it twice as much, I couldn't care less."
