Elliot Page broke the internet when he came out as a trans. And now, his wife Emma has come out in support of the beloved actor.
You might know the popular celebrity for his roles in Juno and The Umbrella Academy. He made the bold revelation in a statement he posted on his social media accounts.
Here's the message he shared with his fans and followers:
"I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they, and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life."
In the statement, the star also expresses "overwhelming gratitude" for the support he has had all through his journey.
But he also took note of the fact that trans people don't always have it so easy. And therefore, he also talked about the "insidious and cruel" discrimination transgender people deal with:
"The truth is, despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I carry, I am also scared."
"To all trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better."
If the outpouring of support the star has received since coming out as a trans is anything to go by, he has very little to worry about.
Many celebrities have shown their support for the Umbrella Academy star, including fellow costars.
A number of them posted messages on Twitter and Instagram to show their love and support while also applauding him on his boldness.
But one of the most important supporters Elliot has after letting the world know he is trans is his wife, Emma Portner.
She not only reposted his message on her Instagram account, but also added a sweet accompanying message.
Here's the message she wrote:
"I am so proud of @elliotpage. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world."
"I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day."
"Elliot's existence is a gift in and of itself."
"Shine on sweet E. Love you so much."
Elliot and Emma took their relationship public in 2017. Then they got married in January of 2018.
At the time, Elliot was pretty ecstatic, and he took to Instagram to express his gratitude: "Can't believe I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife."
Clearly, the complement is well deserved: Emma is a truly incredible partner for standing with her partner at this critical moment in his life.
