An Estonian member of Parliament nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Today, when you think of the Nobel Peace Prize nominees, you might argue former president Donald Trump can't make it to the list.
But think again, as someone has just nominated him for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize!
Trump Threw Himself into the Role of President of the United States in 2016

He sparked a fair share of outrage as soon as he joined office due to his controversial policies.
For example, he imposed a temporary travel ban on Muslims entering and leaving the US. He also banned transgender people from the military.
Many Also Questioned His Decision Making and Even Called for His Removal from Office

Last year, Trump underwent an impeachment trial on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
Although Senate acquitted him of these charges on February 5, 2020, the impeachment left a stain on his reputation.

To make things even worse—shortly after his impeachment—the world was hit by the coronavirus pandemic, which many people accused Trump of handling awfully.
For instance, he repeatedly insisted that COVID-19 was 'harmless,' yet he contacted it himself, and more than 457,000 people have died from it.
But This Didn't Stop Him From Running for Office for a Second Term

Trump's presidential campaign was a bit chaotic. In comparison to Joe Biden's toned-down campaign, Trump seemed disparate to win.
According to reports, he even spread 'lies about Biden and his team in a desperate bid to be reelected.' But on November 7, 2020, Biden won the election.
However, Trump Refused to Accept Defeat

Trump accused Biden and his team of election fraud. His angry supporters also took to the streets over election results.
At a 'Save America' rally in Washington DC, Trump also encouraged his supporters to 'fight for their country.'

This led to shocking scenes on January 6, where thousands flocked to the Capitol building.
At the time, rioters looted valuable items from offices and chambers. It was undeniably, the biggest security breach in the US since 9/11.

Trump later issued a series of tweets asking his supporters to simply 'go home.'
However, he refused to take any responsibility for the riots, even though he was the one who encouraged his supporters to 'fight back' earlier that day.

This led to Congress's decision to impeach Trump, again, making him the only president in history to be impeached twice during a presidential term.

Needless to say, Trump wasn't at his best during the final year of his presidential term.
One Lawmaker in Estonia Has Decided to Overlook Trump's Criticisms and Nominated Him for the Nobel Peace Prize
Jaak Madison, an Estonian member of the European Parliament, claims Trump 'deserves' the Nobel Peace Prize.

Taking to social media, Madison said:
"In the last thirty years, Donald Trump is the first president of the United States, who, during his tenure, has not started a war."
"Additionally, he signed several peace agreements in the Middle East which have helped provide stability in the region and peace."
Madison referred to the Abraham Accords, a joint statement between Israel, the UAE, the US, and other Arab countries.

The statement says on the State Department's website:
"We encourage efforts to promote interfaith and intercultural dialogue to advance a culture of peace among the three Abrahamic religions and all humanity."
"We believe that the best way to address challenges is through cooperation and dialogue… Developing friendly relations among States advances the interests of lasting peace in the Middle East and around the world."

Last year, a Norwegian Parliament member, Christian Tybring-Gjedde, also nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Christian told Fox News at the time:
"For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees."
