Dog Walks 200km ‘with Tears In Her Eyes’ To Find Owner Who Had Abandoned Her

A loyal dog escaped from a train and walked 125 miles (200km), "with tears on her face," in an attempt to return home after her owner abandoned her.

Six months after buying the dog, the woman who owned one-year-old Manora, nicknamed 'Maru,' claimed she was allergic and no longer wanted to keep the pooch.

But as she was being transported back to the kennel, along the Trans-Siberia railway, she escaped from the train. She walked approximately 200 km to return to her owner.

According to the reports, Maru used her paws to "open a compartment door" on the train before escaping at a remote station near Achinsk.

The kennel owner, Alla Morozova, had agreed with Maru's owner to return the dog by putting her on the train to Novosibirsk.

They arranged that an attendant would accompany the dog and to take care of her throughout the journey.

Morozova said:

"I never give up my puppies, and when a dog is bought, it is stipulated that the owners should inform me if they do not need a dog anymore."

But after 125 miles into the journey, she got scared and jumped off when the train momentarily stopped.

The train staff told Morozova that the dog had suffered a "panic attack." When the train stopped, she "jumped on the compartment door, and almost knocked the conductor out of the way."

The attendant added:

"She jumped out like a bullet."

"When the door opened to the platform, she jumped out into the night, into the taiga (swampy Siberian forest)."

Morozova explained that the dog got "frightened" that's why she escaped from the train.

She said:

"She had been brought by her owners, then they disappeared somewhere. The noise of the train scared her…"

Though the attendant tried to call the dog back, she failed to return. The kennel owner organized a search for her and pleaded on social media for information.

Incredibly, the exhausted and wounded dog was found two days and a half later at an industrial estate near her home.

After Maru was found, Morozova reported:

"I'm sure that she was looking for her house. Dogs are very attached to people. She did not run to Novosibirsk - she wanted to go back where she lived."

The kennel owner said it was 'lucky' Maru hadn't been attacked by bears or wolves on her way back. She was found with damaged pads and paws and had an injury on her muzzle.

Volunteers who found her explained that the dog was extremely exhausted, claiming she was "even in tears."

The dog was later driven to Novosibirsk for treatment. She has also been reunited with her biological mother and father in the kennel.
