Pop superstar Cher raised $2 million for Joe Biden's campaign at a virtual, LGBTQ-themed fundraiser.

Referencing her 1998 hit, Believe, the singer asked the streaming crowd if they 'believe in life after Trump?'

The Oscar-winning actress, best-selling singer, and all-around iconic superstar was the headliner of the event.

The event also featured former South Bend, Ind., Mayor, and presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg and other openly gay politicians — including Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) and Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.).

During the fundraiser, Biden pledged to sign the Equality Act in his first 100 days in office.

The bill, which passed the House but hasn't come up for a Senate vote, would add protection rights to LGBTQ people.

The event took place the same day the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce endorsed Biden for President.

Cher has known

Biden for a long time.

While addressing the crowd, Cher said she had known Biden since 2006, when she said she 'invited herself' to his office.

She said:

"He thinks he invited me, but really I invited myself. I saw a speech Joe had given, and it was love at first speech."

"So I went to his office to grill him, and I asked him really pointed questions. And unlike most politicians, Joe listened to me and cared [about] what I had to say. He was honest and kind and smart."

Cher, whose son Chaz Bono is transgender, hit out at the current President for instilling policies that discriminate against transgender people.

During the event, Biden said:

"When I'm President, that changes. I'll make signing the Equality Act one of the top priorities of my first 100 days."

He added he would 'build a nation where everybody is finally not only created equal but treated equally as well.'

Biden also thanked Cher, saying:

"She first supported us way back last winter when it took some guts to do so. Fortunately, guts are something Cher has in abundance.

Cher has done fundraisers in the past

Cher has been a donation juggernaut for Democratic presidential candidates' campaigns in the past.

In 2012, Cher, together with actress Julia Roberts and TV host Ellen DeGeneres hosted an LGBTQ fundraiser for President Barack Obama in Los Angeles.

In 2016, Cher sailed to New York's gay enclave of Fire Island to host a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton.

The legendary performer is also one of a line-up of a-list entertainers joining the Biden/Harris campaign's fund-raising efforts. Other stars include actors Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, and Jennifer Garner.
