A video of Disneyland Gaston reacting to a woman touching him went viral.
The clip was shared on Reddit where a woman can be seen approaching the man dressed in a full costume as Gaston from the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast, probably to take a picture.
As she approaches him, she tries to grab him, lunging for his chest. The man quickly steps out of the way before telling her to "get out."
It must have been some sort of joke to her because she appears pretty unsure of what his reaction meant. She continues smiling, probably wondering if he was serious or not. She attempts to grab him again, leaning in, and he decisively orders her to "leave," in addition to reminding her that there are children around.
What do you think? Did it look like some form of harassment? Well, TikTok user @evansnead urged viewers:
"Please do not be that person."
He believes that the man dressed as Gaston was "every bit in his right" to do what he did.
He went on further to explain:
"Just so you know, if you do harass the characters like that, more often than not, they are not going to play into it. They are not going to think it's cute. If you don't want a stranger going up to you in public, at your place of work, and putting their hands all over you, then don't do it to the characters."
"The characters want you to have a great time and enjoy meeting them, but it is their place of work, it is a family place of business, and they are also people."
Worthy of adding is the fact that grabbing and touching without consent is not in their job description.
There has been an online outrage over the incident. One Redditor asked:
"Did the brain fairy forget to give her one that day?"
"I wonder how she imagined the situation would have played out. It's a Disney character from a child's movie."
A third added:
"I'm glad he did what he did. Her sense of entitlement was real, and I never say that lightly."
The man who played Gaston was commended for how he handled the situation and set an example for kids who must have been watching. One user said:
"I love that Gaston did this because there certainly were kids watching, and it shows a perfect example of what to do when someone touches you inappropriately."
Do you agree with the opinion and views of the majority? Do you consider the moral implication of every action you take before you do so? Well, it's wise to remember the saying that "like a madman who shoots fiery missiles, arrows, and death, is the man who plays a trick on his neighbor and says, "I was only joking."
