Happy news for fans, it's been confirmed that a new Dirty Dancing film is coming out!
The iconic romantic dance film has been described as "one of the worst-kept secrets in Hollywood."
On August 7th, 33 years after the first movie hit the big screen, the sequel was announced, and here's what we know so far…
Rumors of the project started to spread last month, when it was announced that a new "untitled dance movie" set in the 1990s was in the works at Lionsgate, starring the Dirty Dancing actress, Jennifer Grey.
Now that Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer has confirmed the good news, everyone can officially look forward to the new flick, as it looks like it's going to be everything old-time Dirty Dancing fans could have asked for.

Discussing the sequel in an earnings call, Feltheimer conceded that the news hadn't been kept a secret, but added:
It will be exactly the kind of romantic, nostalgic movie that the franchise's fans have been waiting for, and that has made it the biggest-selling library title in the Company's history.
Dirty Dancing was first released in 1987, and to this day it's still considered to be one of the most well-loved movies out there.
Starring Grey and Patrick Swayze, the film is all about a young woman spending the summer with her family at a resort, where she falls in love with the charming dance teacher, Johnny Castle.
Another Dirty Dancing film, Havana Nights was released in 2004, but it was like a prequel or reimagining of the original and didn't feature Grey or even co-star Patrick Swayze, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2009 aged 57. Jerry Orbach, who played Baby's dad Jake Houseman, also died in 2004.
According to Deadline reports, Grey is supposed to be the executive producer, as well as the star, of the new film, with Jonathan Levine and Gillian Bohrer as directors, and screenplay by none other but Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis.
We hope there will be a lot of musical hits; the original movie's key tune '(I've Had) The Time of My Life' won the Oscar for 'Best Original Song' at the 1988 Academy Awards.
Although it will never be the same without Swayze, we can't wait for Baby's return.
What about the release date?
Unfortunately, no further details have been announced. We do expect the film's release to be a long way ahead, though, since the Coronavirus has delayed filming.
But we'll definitely update you when more information is available.
Most fans are happy with the news of a sequel, while others aren't very optimistic about another movie, when the first one alone was already good enough.
Since Dirty Dancing raised the bar really high, the upcoming film definitely has big shoes to fill, but we hope Grey's involvement will ensure that it stays true to the charm of the original.
