When we hear “detox water,” it sounds rather posh. But, it’s nothing more than drinking water and vitamins, which will help you get rid of the toxins.

Though it sounds like something straight out of Gwyneth Paltrow’s website, detox water is not new, or a trendy way to lose weight.

Daily exposure to toxins under normal conditions is partially eliminated with the help of water. You do not need expensive juicers and blenders. It is enough to add foods rich in antioxidants and ingredients that have anti-inflammatory and diuretic effects. 

It’s a way to help your metabolism and add nutrients in a completely natural and harmless way, without empty calories, of course. 

Perhaps you can serve detox water for summer with colorful jugs? Just to make things more interesting.

What precisely to add? Fruits, vegetables, and some herbs (fresh or powdered). These are our favorite recipes, but all variations on the theme are welcome.

When you’re at the dermatologist’s waiting room, and the nice stuff member serves you this drink, you feel special. That’s when you know you need to stop by the store and stock up on ingredients on the way home. 

Cucumber is not just for gin and tonic, obviously. It contains antioxidants, nutrients, and has a diuretic effect. Lemon alkalizes the body and is a source of vitamin C.

Chop half a cucumber and one lemon. Add a few fresh mint leaves per liter of water and leave in the fridge for at least two hours, and at most overnight. It is ideal for drinking it in one day.

In addition to mint, you can also add rings of fresh ginger. Ginger’s benefits include anti-inflammatory effects, from digestion to sore throat.

Water is tasteless, but this drink is delicious! And it promotes better immunity.

This infusion is the dream of all exotic ingredients but without calories. 

Pineapple has a strong anti-inflammatory effect due to the high concentration of bromelain, vitamin C, and potassium. Tasty mango has a beneficial impact on digestion and it reduces bloating. 

Cut the pineapple and mango in the amount that will fill a smaller glass, add the juice of half a lemon, and put it in a liter of water. Leave to stand for at least an hour.

Lemon + hibiscus + basil

Hibiscus contains phytoestrogen, a substance that is similar to the hormone estrogen. That’s why it is often recommended as an addition to therapies for polycystic ovary syndrome and menopausal symptoms. Low estrogen levels can also lead to digestive problems. 

Basil and lemon have an additional calming effect on the muscles by relaxing them and relieving the symptoms of bloating. 

This infusion is ideal for women who have problems with digestion and stress, which is pretty much all of us.  

Leave the dried hibiscus flowers, fresh basil leaves, and one lemon in a liter of water overnight and drink it the next day.

Detox water is tasty, super healthy, and an ideal replacement for store-bought juices. And you know these are full of unwanted calories, not to mention that they are anything but healthy.

However, you shouldn’t forget to keep your body hydrated, by merely drinking freshwater. Most of us simply forget that our bodies are more water than anything else. 

Detox water will help you lose some weight, but more importantly, it will improve your overall health. And that’s all that matters.
