Death Row Inmate Requested A Whopping 29,000-calories For His Last Ever Meal

In June 2012, Gary Carl Simmons Jr, who was 49 years old at the time, was executed by lethal injection at the Mississippi State Penitentiary for the murder of Jeffrey Wolfe.

In 1996, the former grocery store butcher used his meat carving knives to dismember Jeffrey Wolfe before scattering his remains in a bayou infested with alligators.

Before facing his punishment for his actions, Simmons requested a final meal that could have fed several people.

According to Gulf Live, a local Mississippi and Gulf news website, Simmons requested a large and diverse final meal that included items such as a double portion of a Pizza Hut Super Supreme Deep Dish pizza with mushrooms, onions, jalapeño peppers, and pepperoni, a regular portion of pizza with three pieces of cheese, olives, bell pepper, tomato, garlic and Italian sausage, multiple packs of Parmesan cheese and ranch dressing, a family size pack of Doritos nacho cheese flavor, jalapeño nacho cheese, sliced jalapeños, two large strawberry shakes, two 20-oz cherry Cokes, a super-size order of McDonald's fries with extra ketchup and mayonnaise and two pints of strawberry ice cream.

The Mississippi Department of Corrections shared the list of items as part of a briefing prior to the execution.

It is not known if he ate the entire meal, but according to a local blog, at a press conference held 90 minutes before his execution, the Department of Corrections stated that he had consumed about half of his meal and had tried everything except the fries.

The murder of Jeffrey Wolfe, a 21-year-old, in August 1996 was linked to drugs.

According to records from the Mississippi Supreme Court, Jeffrey Wolfe and his girlfriend traveled from Houston to Mississippi to collect a drug debt which was between $12,000 and $20,000.

When they arrived at Simmons's house, he was accompanied by his accomplice, Timothy Milano. The duo falsely informed Wolfe that they did not have the money.

An argument broke out, and Milano ended up shooting Wolfe with a .22-caliber rifle, resulting in his death.

Wolfe's girlfriend was bound and locked in a foot locker by Simmons, who subsequently raped her. Court documents indicate that he informed her that "her life depended on how well she performed sexually."

Afterward, he went back to the foot locker and went to the bathroom where he used his butter knives from work to dissect and gut Wolfe's body in the bathtub.

The woman was able to free herself from the foot locker and fled to a neighbor's house where she called the police.

Simmons was found guilty in August 1997 of charges of kidnapping, rape, and capital murder. He was subsequently given the death penalty.
