Crime TV show Mindhunter might be back for another third season.
According to the UK website Small Screen, Netflix has restarted the talks regarding the third season of the popular show, with the creator, David Fincher.
The serial killer drama was put on "indefinite hold" over a year ago. Yet, the fans never truly gave up on the show.
Mindhunter Season 3 Conversations
Small Screen's sources, which are close to the biggest streaming service, stated:
"All I can really tell you about Mindhunter is that conversations between Netflix and Fincher are ongoing. They are discussing the possibility of bringing the show back for a third season."
"It's still very early days, but Fincher sounds more upbeat about the project."
Fincher (pictured) never truly closed the door to another season. In November 2020, he told Variety about his plans:
"At some point, I'd love to revisit it. The hope was to get all the way up to the late '90s, early 2000's, hopefully, get all the way up to people knocking on the door at Dennis Rader's house."
Despite strong indications that the who will be back, things will not be the same.
The question of the Mindhunter cast
The stars of the first two seasons are not contractually obligated to return for another.
Once the project was put on hold, they were let go from their contracts, and Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv moved onto new projects.
Depending on their schedules, they might come back to Netflix's hit show to revisit more true crime cases. However, scheduling conflicts might prevent them.
If you haven't, we strongly suggest you check out the seasons available on Netflix, especially if you love a good, powerful storyline and eerie atmosphere.
