Fans have been concerned about Britney Spears and her conservatorship for a long time now. According to the latest news, they will likely keep worrying because it was extended until September 2021.
This decision by a US judge will probably spark outrage and alarm for the singer's fans who started the #FreeBritney movement.
Entertainment Tonight reported that the decision was made in a remote hearing that involved Britney's parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears. Attorney Samuel Ingham was present as well.
The Court's Temporary Decision

The hearing was meant to review how Jamie is handling Britney's assets but a postponement was agreed upon.
The court agreed that there will be a hearing later in 2020, on 3 September. Initially, the hearing was set to take place in February 2021.
This means that Britney's conservatorship will continue as it is until then.
Britney's Wishes
The conservatorship was put in place when Britney was in a bad space years ago. However, it seems to the world that she has rebuilt her life and should be in control of her affairs.
According to the conservatorship, her father is in charge of most of her matters, including her financial activities and career.
Britney has made it clear that she wants to take back control when she filed to remove Jamie as her conservator.
So far, that has not happened yet. The court rejected the application in November. She has tried more than once this year to remove him from the legal documents.
He insists that the two of them are on good terms although they have not spoken since summer.
Jamie's Argument

The singer's father insists that he is doing what is best for her, even if her fans do not see it that way.
"I love my daughter and I miss her very much. When a family member needs special care and protection, families need to step up, as I have done for the last 12-plus years, to safeguard, protect and continue to love Britney unconditionally."
Jamie added that he will continue to protect Britney against anyone who wishes her ill.
"I have and will continue to provide unwavering love and fierce protection against those with self-serving interests and those who seek to harm her or my family."
However, Britney seems adamant. Her lawyer stated that she won't perform again until Jamie is removed as the head of her conservatorship.
"My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father. She will not perform again if her father is in charge of her career."
The judge, Brenda Penny, feels that more evidence is needed before a decision can be made. She will consider future appeals from the singer.
Jamie's Response To #FreeBritney

The #FreeBritney movement has received a lot of attention on social media, where it was started.
Jamie feels that it is stupid and that fans don't have any idea what is really going on in Britney's life.
"All these conspiracy theorists don't know anything. The world don't have a clue. It's up to the court of California to decide what's best for my daughter. It's no one else's business."
He added that there is no way for him to steal his daughter's money.
"I have to report every nickel and dime spent to the court every year. How the hell would I steal something?"
"People are being stalked and targeted with death threats. It's horrible. We don't want those kinds of fans. I love my daughter. I love all my kids. But this is our business. It's private."
Until September 2021, fans will have to support Britney on social media and hope that the court's decision will serve her well.
