Here's something you don't hear every day: Claire Dalton wrote an essay about her failed nuptials after she decided to dump the porn-watching fiancé.

She's a devoted churchgoer, and when the ex-fiancé told her he's a porn addict, all hell broke loose.

Claire's not man-bashing

Posting online to the Facebook group Love What Matters, Clare started by stating:

"I'm THAT girl that spent six months with a ring on her finger."

"That girl that planned an entire wedding, only to find out a week prior it was all a lie."

She's insisting that there's no man-bashing, but the 21-year-old claimed that her religious upbringing played a central role in her heartbreak.

Claire, from Utah, continued:

"Religion has always been the core and center of my life and actions, and I grew up being taught true principles of the institution of marriage and family."

"I was always taught God's purposes for marriage and family, and how to seek for and live in such a way that we can be blessed with an eternal family and an eternal marriage."

The big wedding, with 300 guests, was canceled only a week before the ceremony. Claire had a gut feeling that her man's hiding something. She was right.

Exploring search history

Like many others, the porn-loving fiancé got caught after Claire checked his browser history.

She admitted that her partner had been looking for porn just hours before she picked up the phone and had "multiple windows open of sick and twisted ideas of what women supposedly look like".

She felt sick and decided to confront him. The ex told her that it's all normal and that Claire's brother watches it as well.

Claire wasn't convinced:

"The coldest thing I've ever witnessed in my entire life is the lying eyes of the man I love, gazing deep into my soul as multiple lies rolled from his lips.

"He knew it was all a lie, but for some reason, he could look at the woman he claimed to love so dearly straight in her eyes and lie to her face.

"I never knew until that moment how unconsciously cold a single person could be."

Finally, her ex admitted to having a problem with porn, and that's when Claire ended things.

The big break up

You may not resonate with Claire's thinking, but her writing showed a genuine heartbreak.

She explained:

"I wanted to scream, I wanted to cry. I wanted to kick and punch the wall."

"But at that moment, I felt paralyzed. I had a sudden frightening sensation of someone grasping at my neck as if someone or something was attempting to suffocate me to my death."

"Everything made me feel overwhelmingly sick to my stomach. I felt traumatized. I felt worthless. And I felt incredibly afraid."

The online community wasn't forgiving. Now, the young woman had to clarify her beliefs, so she wrote another post:

"I've officially been bashed by the internet for my religion, my personality, my values, my mind, my writing, my experiences, my dreams, and anything else that people could manage to find wrong with me."

Yet, it didn't make things any better.

Claire, pornography, and internet comments

Internet users viciously attacked her after her initial post went viral. By attacking the whole adult industry, the young woman made quite an impression.

She stated:

"Pornography addiction does not just affect you. Pornography addiction affects the people around you, and it's only so long before the truth is going to come out."

"There are hundreds of statistics on how harmful pornography is on the brain, relationships, and the world."

"There is nothing natural or healthy about indulging in pornography. To say that 'all men look at porn' is to say that all men care more about self-gratification and sexual desire than they do about their wives, daughters, sons, and the other people they love in their life."

The internet users were having none of it:

"She doesn't want people judging her, but she just judged everyone who doesn't believe in God.".

The other user added:

"He saw porn. She canceled their wedding. One of those is a massive over-reaction."

This commentator made a fair point:

"Despite her Bible thumping, she clearly does not understand how the concept of forgiveness works."

Some agreed with the young woman:

"Bottom line here. If she disagrees with this, then she made the right decision. No one else's opinions matter."

Yet, there's another interesting POV:

"If she truly thinks pornography is so bad, then she's a pretty horrible person for putting her name and face out there to this story, thus letting anyone who knew who she was engaged to know his personal life."

What do YOU think? Overreaction, or standing up for what she believes? Are you team Claire or team 'let them watch porn'?
