Bride Rips Off Her Own Bridesmaids To Help Pay For Her Wedding Dress

Weddings are supposed to be celebrations of love and devotion, but once you see the bill, it all goes out of the window.

Or, in some cases, people will even rip off those closest to them to get their fairytale wedding.

Most of us find ourselves asking whether we should really put that much cash into one day of celebration. It’s supposed to be a start of a new life, not the end of your credit score.

What You Want Vs. What You Need From A Wedding

Putting things in perspective is what most couples do. They settle for less fancy venues and cheaper outfits, but they get to put a payment on a new home or new car.

That’s reasonable, right?

Many will borrow money from parents or wealthy relatives, or even get their dream wedding as a present. And that sounds amazing, but as long as you are not cheating on your loved ones or breaking the bank, you are good.

Of course, there is another way. Why not rip off your bridesmaids and get yourself the wedding gown you always wanted? It is your special day, after all.

Bride From Hell

One bridesmaid actually was part of a wedding where a bride ripped of her bridesmaid, which is naturally her closest friend, at least according to Reddit’s thread Bridezillas.

So, how did this bride pull up a scam?

She picked out her wedding dress, as well as dresses for her maid of honor and bridesmaids.

The bridesmaids were given a bill, which was not small – 400 dollars. The maid of honor came to the rescue, sort of:

“The MOH decided she would pay for all of the dresses on her credit card because she wanted the air miles, and we would pay her pay directly. “

The bridesmaid added:

“None of us minded, especially since she was going to let us pay her back in installments if we needed.”

The bridesmaid who wrote the post had to wait for her dress to arrive, but the maid of honor assured her that everything was okay since the dress was already paid for.

So the bridesmaid went to the store to pick up her dress. And that’s when she learned the truth.

Bridezilla And Her Little Helper

The bridesmaid walked into the store and chose the dress she already tried on. But…

“As I’m walking out the door, a person working there yells out, ‘Hey, that will be $200!'”

Of course, she was in shock:

“I was stunned and totally mortified.”

And yes, the dress was already paid for, as the maid of honor said. But the price was a tad different.

The scorned bridesmaid asked the maid of honor what went wrong:

“When I confronted the MOH about it, she spilled the beans. Apparently, the bride and MOH plotted together to charge us double to help pay for the bride’s dress.”

There were six bridesmaids, and each paid extra 200 dollars, so the maid of honor and the bride to be got 1,200 dollars.

The “extra” money went to the bride’s dream wedding dress. Who needs friends when you can have a gown?

Hell Hath No Fury

Of course, this bridesmaid did not let this one go. She told everyone in the bridal party what happened. Four bridesmaids decided to skip the wedding.

Two decided to stay, for whatever reasons, but it is unclear whether they got their money back.

Reddit users delivered as usual because no one likes greedy, self-absorbed people. One person wrote:

“That’s not a bridezilla. That’s a criminal.”

Another asked a valid question:

“Who uses their friends as an ATM to help pay for their wedding dress?”

This person stated:

“Besides being a slime-ball, this illustrates something wrong with people that weddings seem to really highlight: She. Couldn’t. Afford. That. Dress. “

“Just another example of people thinking it’s okay to have all of these things that they can’t afford.”

And sadly, some find this story relatable, meaning they were also tricked into paying for someone’s wedding shenanigans without their consent:

“I once had a bride pull something even better on us, the groomsmen.”

“We all had to get fitted tux’s with all these accessories, including matching black shoes, even though we were all white-collar executives who already owned higher quality black dress shoes. Come to find out at a tux measuring, the grossly inflated price all the groomsmen were paying, provided free [tuxes] and accessories to both the groom and father of the bride.”

What would you do if you were in this bridesmaid’s position? Also, how would you react if you were in the maid of honor’s shoes?
