Breastfeeding Mom Told To Cover Up Has The Most Hilarious Response Ever

A breastfeeding mom was asked to "cover-up" by a stranger at a restaurant, and she did so with a comedic response that has left everyone on social media hysteric.

Breastfeeding a baby in public has been a controversial issue. Some of us will even hide in the bathroom to nurse our little ones just because we're afraid and nervous about the possible repercussion.

Not all of us would have the courage to face a confrontation with a stranger demanding we cover-up. For me, I don't even have an idea of what I'd have done. Maybe I'd have left the restaurant with tears of shame on my face.

But one mom, Melanie Dudley, had the best and most hilarious response ever.

Last week, Coral Lockwood shared a photo of Melanie Dudley on Facebook breastfeeding her 4-year-old boy at a restaurant.

Coral Lockwood stated:

"A friend's daughter-in-law was told to "cover-up" while feeding her baby, so she did! I've never met her, but I think she's AWESOME! Please share! With permission, I've made this post public — I'm SO over people shaming women for nursing!"

"PS: To reduce speculation, it was a man who asked her to cover up. It was 90 degrees and extremely humid, and, no, she wasn't in a Muslim country disrespecting traditions."

The post went viral, receiving 20,000 comments, 80,000 likes, and 226,000 shares.

Facebook users reacted to the post, encouraging and supporting Melanie's comedic response.

Freda Edie commented:

"Good woman. This is a natural act. Some males are just so immature."

Janet Marsden added:

"How do these people think that the human race existed before bottles were invented? It's what breasts are for, to feed babies. Get over yourselves. The disgust is in your own minds. Nice one, girl."

Rita Wilson asserted:

"Well done, it is only a parent feeding a child. It's natural, not sexual. It's the person's mind that wants cleaning."

In an interview with Yahoo! Lifestyle! Dudley acknowledged breastfeeding is challenging.

Explaining what happened at the restaurant that day, she said:

"I was on vacation in Cabo San Lucas with my entire family, and a man asked me to cover myself. I'm usually discreet, but we were seated in the back of the restaurant."

"Breastfeeding is hard enough. This is another layer we don't need to deal with."
