A disgusting viral challenge as a shopper gargles mouthwash, spits it back into the bottle, and returns it on the shelf.
A video showing a woman gargling mouthwash, before spitting it back into the bottle, and returning it to the shelf at Walmart store has gone viral for the wrong reasons.
Posting the bizarre footage on Tweeter, the social media user, who goes by the name 'Bameron Nicole Smith,' walks over to the oral hygiene section in a Walmart store.
'Smith' announces:
"Girl, it has been one musty f**king morning."
'Smith' then proceeds to open a bottle of the minty liquid, takes a swig of Listerine, and spits the used content back into the container.
The video continues with 'Smith' commenting, "nice and minty and fresh. Thank you guys, have a nice day," and struts off down the aisle.
So disgusting, I can't unsee this!
The stomach-churning footage has been viewed more than 16.5 million times and has left the internet with mixed reactions. Many people are unimpressed by the act.
The video's caption says, "you b****** with no oral hygiene could take a hint."
One person commented:
"It's contamination and product tampering."
Another wrote:
"I don't like the feds but god I hope they get you."
Yet another added:
"I love how this generation of want to be criminals is so dumb that they actually document their own criminal activities. Then these dumb asses act all surprised when the police actually catch them."
And when one person asked, "Has anyone reported this degenerate to the @US_FDA [US Food and Drug Administration] yet?" the defiant 'Smith' responded:
"Do it baby I know the law."
In a statement, Walmart told Daily Mail that they're looking into the foul footage. The store where the video was filmed remains unnamed.
Walmart spokesperson said:
"We are investigating this incident."
"If someone tampers with a product and leaves it on the shelf, we will work with law enforcement to identify and prosecute those found responsible to the fullest extent of the law."
Thankfully, 'Smith' later tweeted images of some receipts, suggesting that she actually bought the mouthwash. However, many people have been understandably grossed by the stunt.
This incident follows a similar social media storm. A teenager was purportedly filmed licking a tube of ice cream before placing it back on the store shelf.
Police said that the teenager could face charges of tampering with products, which comes with a 20-year sentence in prison, and a $10,000 fine.
In response to the ice cream licking incident, Blue Bell Creameries ice cream released a statement:
"We take this issue very seriously and are currently working with law enforcement, retail partners, and social media platforms. This type of incident will not be tolerated."
"Food safety is a top priority, and we work hard to provide a safe product and maintain the highest level of confidence from our consumers."
"The lids are frozen tightly to the carton. Any attempt at opening the product should be noticeable. We will continue to monitor this situation."
