Ever since her ultimate hit, Bad Guy, went viral and we all got to know the young teenage girl named Billie Eilish, we’ve grown used to seeing her dressed differently than most girls of her age.
Whenever someone mentioned Billie, the first image that would come to our minds were the baggy clothes that she rocked with her green hair and long nails.
She was different from day one, and we felt it. Always standing tall in front of the flashing cameras, posing bold, being fearless, and feeling feminine.
But everything changes, eventually. And Billie’s transformation started with her new blonde hair that looks gorgeous on her!
Moreover, that’s not all she did.
A Brave New Change
According to USA Today, Billie’s fashion choices mostly came to prevent people from body-shaming her.
And what cannot be seen will not be judged. But although people weren’t able to see much of her body shape and put their two cents on this topic, people never stopped judging or body-shaming her.
However, with both a new Vogue cover and a look that marks her upcoming album’s shift in direction, Billie Eilish seems ready to welcome a big change.
June’s cover for the British Vogue has and will offer something new. A new side of the Billie we used to know will be out and about.
But still, the new outfits and her new look, in general, are not the things we want to accentuate here.
The new Vogue photoshoot shows us a promising young woman wearing a collection of form-fitting corsets in black and earth tones.
Impressions All The Way, Everywhere
The magazine’s editor-in-chief Edward Enninful shared his thoughts:
“Our cover star this month wanted nothing short of a transformation.”
And judging by her recent Instagram posts, Billie is more than happy with the final results.
In the description of her latest post there, she wrote:
“I love these pictures and I loved doing this shoot. Do whatever you want whenever you want. [expletive] everything else.”
Some Personal Opinions And Similar Things
And as she expands upon in her interview with the magazine, she shares her personal views on some of the topics for the reasons that stay behind this photoshoot and the project in general.
The discussion extends to one’s personal style and even in the decision to seek cosmetic surgery. In Billie’s view, whatever you want to make you look like your idea of good should be pursued.
But, Is It Contradictory, Or Maybe Not At All?
People started pointing out how Billie’s photoshoot is contradictory.
But if that philosophy and her new look seem paradoxical to some people, the young star believes that it’s likely the result of one of the many weird miscommunications about her beliefs.
“Suddenly you’re a hypocrite if you want to show your skin, and you’re easy and you’re a slut and you’re a whore. If I am, then I’m proud. Let’s turn it around and be empowered in that. Showing your body and showing your skin – or not – should not take any respect away from you.”
You Don’t Own Me
For her, this big change in style means taking her power back into her hands. And more importantly, not letting herself be owned anymore.
These recent events and her statements have led others to ask Billie how her younger self would feel regarding this decision.
She claimed that it’s neither advisable to model yourself after what your past self would approve of, nor what you see as your future self.
Instead, Billie said that you should be exactly who you feel like you are and want to be in that moment, otherwise you’re going to go insane.
