Bear Grylls nearly died and had to be saved by paramedics after being stung by a bee while filming his latest TV show, 'Treasure Island With Bear Grylls.'

While filming on an island in the Pacific Ocean, the all-star survivalist, adventurer, and television personality nearly went into an anaphylactic shock after a near-fatal bee sting.

Brain surgeon Mano Shanmug-anathan, who is also starring in the show, talked about the scary moment.

He shared:

"I think that Bear is an impressive guy. He understands his tasks at hand and knows what he has to achieve."

"The irony of Bear the survivalist being stung, having the potential of an allergic reaction, and needing to be treated with an EpiPen, was a bizarre moment. That was crazy!"

The incident happened on the first day of filming as Grylls transported contestants to an island via a boat. After he was stung, the survivalist tried to continue filming the show, but paramedics feared he might suffer a potential anaphylactic shock. So, they raced onboard with an EpiPen.

Grylls first discovered that he was allergic to bees in 2008 when he got stung while cutting a honeycomb from a nest.

Speaking on Born Survivor, Grylls said:

"It's quite a brute of a bee sting this; it's made all this part of me swell up. It feels a bit like a price to pay for a bit of honey."

"The irony is, out of all of the massive, lethal, aggressive, man-eating crocs, snakes, alligators I've dealt with over the years, the one that gets me is a bee."

"It's typical."

Back in 2015, Grylls shared a throwback photo on Instagram, revealing his swollen face after an allergic reaction from a bee sting.

Thankfully, Bear appears to have fully recovered from the brutal sting. Updating his fans on Instagram, he recently shared a topless snap of himself training. He captioned it:

"Thanks for many kind messages… I'm all good."

The Television show, Treasure Island With Bear Grills, follows islanders as they compete and survive on a remote island, and the grand prize is £100,000 ($122,000).

The show will return on Sunday, September 8, on Channel 4. It will show the 12 Brits marooned on the island for 35 days and left to search for their own food, water, and shelter.
