There have been long-standing rumors about a romantic relationship between August Alsina and Jada Smith. When this rumor surfaced years back, neither party validated it, neither was there substantial evidence to prove it. But on June 30, in an hour-long interview with Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club, August elucidated on his alleged romance with Jada.

While discussing his new album The ProductIII: stateofEMERGEncy, he also talked about how the rumors were harming his career.

He said: "I don't think it's ever important for people to know what I do, who I sleep with, who I date, right? But in this instance, it's very different because as I said there's so many people that are side-eying me, looking at me questionably about it. I've lost money, relationship behind it and I think it's because people don't necessarily know the truth."

He, then, revealed that he received Will Smith's blessing to date his wife after Will and Jada's relationship transformed from "marriage to a life partnership."

How Did Will Give His Blessing?

August says:

"I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership that they've spoken on several times and it not involving romanticism. He gave me his blessing and I told him that I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life. And I truly and really, really deeply loved and have a ton of love for her. I devoted myself to it. I gave my full self to it. So much so to the point that I can die right now and be okay with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody."

August admitted that walking away from the relationship "butchered" him. He had "never been in love in that kind of a way".

There has been an explosive reaction on Twitter with this revelation. Some people are questioning the relationship between Jada and Will. Others are blaming Jada for taking advantage of the younger man's emotions. There are those speculating on how Will Smith will pay this back. While there's the group that considers it all a sin.

True, Jada Pinkett Smith and her husband have been open about the ups and downs in their relationship. They refer to themselves as life partners instead of marriage mates because according to Jada, "the context of our union is totally different". Jada is yet to respond to August's claims.
