Ashanti And Keyshia Cole's Verzuz Canceled

Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19, leading Verzuz to postpone her battle with Keyshia Cole.

It looks like fans will have to wait until January for the Verzuz battle between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole.

Verzuz canceled the highly anticipated even just hours before it was set to begin. This was soon after Ashanti revealed she has tested positive for COVID-19.

In an Instagram post to update her fans, Ashanti said:

"Hey all, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I tested positive for COVID-19."

"I'm OK and not in any pain. I'm actually down to do the Verzuz from my house ... We're trying to figure it out."

Ashanti and Keyshia Cole were set to go head to head, following the most recent 'Icy' battle between Gucci Mane and Jeezy, which became the highest viewed Verzuz of all time.

Although the event was to observe COVID guidelines, they canceled it anyway.

Verzuz announced on Instagram:

"Unfortunately, we have to postpone tonight's @Ashanti vs. @KeyshiaCole #VERZUZ."

"Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19 beforehand, and we cannot put anyone at risk in the process. The first time this has struck us so close to showtime."

"We apologize to our incredible audience! Get well soon, Ashanti. Wear a mask, stay inside, and take COVID-19 seriously. It's truly affecting our community."

Ashanti hasn't precisely been quarantining. Last month, she traveled to Antigua and even shared multiple photos of her trip on social media.

Even so, we wish her a speedy recovery so we can see her back in the battle.

While it's Ashanti who came down with the illness, Keyshia decided if they couldn't do the Verzuz in person, she didn't want to do it.

The two went Live on Instagram together after Verzuz postponed the event.

During the Live, Ashanti blamed 'the Devil' for her contracting the virus and not her recent bouts of international travels.

While some fans speculated she contracted the virus during her recent travels, she insisted that she caught the virus from a family member at home.

She also shared that she would have been down to do a virtual show.

However, Keyshia was less than thrilled with the idea.

She told Ashanti:

"I want to give you a hug, I want to love you, and I want to sing your songs in front of you."

"I want you to be there and do the same.

Keyshia added:

"I want you to enjoy our flowers. I want to enjoy my flowers, and I want us to [unite] as one."

Keyshia then urged Ashanti to prioritize her health over the battle.

The Ashanti and Cole Verzuz is now scheduled for Jan. 9, 2021.
